Recommended Posts

Any one use take a personal loan to pay for their surgery? I'm thinking about trying this so I don't blow my whole savings in one whop. Who did you use and how was the interest?

I think a personal loan, if you have good credit would have better interest rate than Care credit. Especially if you get the loan from a credit union. A zero interest credit card with 12-24 months no interest would be a good option also if you really have good credit and can pay it off in that time frame.

Care credit doesn't have the best rep.

I financed through my credit union. The rate was really good, I don't remember what it was though because it was 4 years ago. I paid it off last month!

I used Lightstream (a loan company that is part of SunTrust Banks). It was all done online and I chose the terms. I got a good rate to cover everything, including traveling. They didn't really ask what it was for.

Has anyone used Neighborhood Health Plan Insurance? I just slid by with. BMI of 40 and sleep apnea. I'm waiting on pins and needles until I hear back.

I'm using Prosper Health Care... the rate was about 15% with excellent credit which I think is steep (I plan to pay off very early to avoid as much of that as possible). The application process was fast and easy, and I received the funding within three days of applying. Hope that helps. :)

If you've got the savings then I say use it. I used all my savings for my surgery and put my plane tickets on a 0% credit card I paid off in two months with my tax return. This was the cheapest way to do it...no interest or fees. If other expenses came up later I could have used credit at that point, but why pay interest if you don't have to?

JFYI, that savings was earmarked for a down payment on a new truck but I have no regrets with using it for surgery. Driving my skinny butt around in my 17 year old rust bucket is totally worth it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
