Before & After RNY Pics

Recommended Posts

Hello RNYers!

After initial consultation with my surgeon, he highly recommended that I pursue gastric bypass rather than sleeve given my high starting BMI. I had gone into the meeting set on the sleeve; needless to say, I am now looking at RNY as I trust his medical opinion and evaluation of my health.

I am curious about those of you who have had RNY, specifically your starting weight/BMI and your progress to date. So...I invite those of you who feel comfortable to share your before and after RNY pics and progress.

Thanks to you all!

Dev

I am 33 months post op RNY. I would recommend that you take a good before photographs so that you can compare it to the after photograph. Often times we fail to really see ourselves. And after surgery, we sometimes question our weight loss because we have nothing to compare it to.

This is my 6 month before and after photo. I tried to duplicate the same pose.

This is me 4 weeks before surgery and 5 months after. It's not all rainbows and butterflies, but I'd do it again 100 times to feel as good as I do.

Hey Dev,

My original RNY was in 2002. I was 5'2" and 268 then 11 months later I was at goal 132 pounds. I did just have a revision 2/9/16 but you can read my story in my profile if you'd like.

I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but your before pic os great. You didn't look like you needed WLS.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
