I just finished my first month of 6. The 12th is my next weigh in. We will be pretty close to being surgery buddies. It's nice to see others be close in journeys as me. You get any of your testing done yet? I get most all mine done in April. (labs, sleep study, endoscope) GI X-ray and phy. Eval) pretty much days apart from each other. Time does seem like it's moving fast, but slow at the same time.

Yes it does move fast at times and very slow at others. That's ok though, it's only getting us prepared for our day for the rest of our lifes. My eval was my last of all the pre op. I had most of all my testing done when I went in to see what was causing my reflux to get worse. Come to find out that I have a larg Hiurnal hurnia. So because of my hi bmi at that point was 44.9, the said they didn't like to do repair unless it was coupled with wls.

I had my 6mo of dieting in with a diff doctor before I decided to go through with Route Y surgery!!

I did my initial meeting & had both of my required dietitian Appts....

all I really have left is to lose more 8lbs (my required 5% that I have to lose before surgery) & my Psychiatric appt for him to give the green light so they can get my insurance to cover surgery....

I've been doing the "Bariatric diet" for like 2mo now (meat, 1cup veggies, 1c fruit 3x times a day: no snacking in between...only Water, crystal light, & sugar free tropical Popsicles are accepted)

My psych evaluation is on Monday. Kind of nervous cause I've never had one. Has anybody have theirs yet

I had my psych evaluation on Thursday --it was really nothing. The Dr asked me some questions for about 20 min, then I had to take the MMPI. It's a long weird True/False test. Just answer truthfully & you will be fine.

Good Luck!#

It definitely depends on what insurance company you have. I have Priority & others have told me they were approved pretty quickly. (Of course I imagine the ones who were not approved are probably not on the boards? )

Good Luck with your approval! !

Good luck those of you waiting for approval. I'm in Ontario so surgery is covered by our provincial health insurance. I have follow up with dietician and psych on April 11 and then hope to get surgeon appt. Since March 10 I have been off caffeine, no snacking, doing the Vitamin regime and trying to eat Breakfast and plan meals. I'm hoping it goes smoothly from here

I'm just starting mine as well but luckily there is no insurance weight requirement. My surgeon wants me to lose 20 lbs and then have an EGD then lose 20 more to be ready for surgery. I lost 11 lbs right away and was so close and then the holidays came and I gained it all back. At my checkup now and not excited to see what the doctor has to say about that

Edit: at my appointment today my doctor talked about a different procedure called SADI-S or single anastamosis duodenal switch. Anybody had that?

@@tiggerlillie I am also in Ontario.... I have my orientation at TWH on April 18th. I'm so anxious to get the process moving. I know how quickly a year goes by but I really just can't wait to be having my surgery.

I'm just starting out as well. Went to my consult on Monday, but I'm not sure if I really want to use this doc. The psych eval is $300 out of pocket, and they won't let me use my current therapist. Not sure I like that, plus it's kind of far from my house. I live in Silver Spring, MD and it's in Fairfax, VA.

They did give me orders to get my EKG, abdominal u/s, chest X-rays, and EGD, scheduled, so I've got them scheduled and if I do change surgeons I can still use the same reports.

I'm going to a seminar for another surgeon closer to me at Howard University Hospital, and I've heard great things about them. Both places are Centers of Excellence, so I should be good either way.

But I did like the fact that Howard will allow me to use my own therapist for the psych eval. I mean, who can better determine if I'm able to handle such a life change, than the provider who has been seeing me for a couple of years now? Just makes sense.

The only thing I'm not too happy about is the 6 month program. The first surgeon said it HAS to be medically supervised through them, but never bothered to verify my insurance when I have actually asked them. Anthem Blue Cross told me it could be any weight loss program like even WW. Inova told me no, that's not true. I actually spoke with the pre-certification group and they directed me to the medical policy where it states that it should be a non-surgical attempt for 6 months in the last 2 years, evaluated by the requesting physician.

Anyways, I have invoices/records of the medical weight loss clinic I joined last year, and I'm going to try to use those.

I just want to get this done ASAP so I can start to feel like a normal person by the time my bday rolls around in June. Lol

Me too. My birthday is in June I have to do a 3 month Dr supervised diet and my pcp has no idea what I mean I have to tell her what to write for the diet notes. I started on March 21 and I am losing weight fast on atkins induction diet. I have a ton to lose. I have a whole day of tests on Friday. I probably will have my sugery around my birthday. I will be the big 40!! I gave birth to twins in September 2015. Lots going on here. I have 5 boys all together. Well I will tell ya'll more after friday

I'm just starting the process as well! I attended the seminar last month and have my first appointment next week. I have no idea what to expect for this first appointment, but I'm super excited. ???? ????????
