@Rose1up! thank you mama. i've decided i need to shoot for like 130. i think the people that "look skinny" in photos are like 115 but that ain't gonna happen for me. my body is being real funny right now and losing like 2lbs per week but it's ok. i'm teetering at 161 to get to my initial goal of 160. then imma start taking boot camp classes to get to the next level. when they say the last 20lbs are the hardest they ain't kidding!

haha i love teal. had my tiffany blue car for a while i'm thinking of changing it to TRON this year tho just for fun ;):P

PR_Pitbull... you are most welcome. Im at 49 lbs lost since 1/6/16. Im happy with my progress. I know there was a week where I lost 5 lbs. That was cool. I had another surgery (Gyn) on the 20th so I went backwards a few lbs. Because Im swollen but I weighed today and dropped 2 lbs. Again. Im looking foward to the weeks where the weight drops off quicker but thankful the scale is moving down. I dont want to have skin removal surgery so losing at this rate is great. Look at all the progress you have done and gone through and that the the weight is staying off. What color is Tron? I may have to do my nails like that! ;)

You're right. We should be pleased with our progress. I honestly (at one point) thought I wouldn't get to 160 so I should b more grateful and appreciative. I might have surgery after. Not sure how things will tighten. You're doing great and look awesome.

Here's tron. It's going to glow at night lol. post-255097-14617142688058_thumb.jpg

@Rose1up! thanks! i like to have fun with it so imma do it. :)

welp. i guess in a way this is the end of a first journey. i reached my goal weight today of 160. (im still gonna go to 140) but this is still the end of a goal. so here are the legit before/during and almost final after photos. it was HARD work but imma keep going. this is a lifestyle now. the surgery wasn't the fix all i thought it would be but it has stopped me from binge eating which was one of my problems. but it takes dedication and discipline to get this done. so im happy for the push it gave me. i wasn't about to waste the 12k i paid to get this done lol. so there it is. onward to the next goal. :)

I meet with the surgeon on Thursday. I was told it's the last step before actually submitting my information to the insurance. I'm very anxious and hope the insurance replies soon..thanks for the reply. I'm very nervous and not very many people around me understand

so it just occured to me we have some noobs on here and some that aren't even sleeved yet so VETS help me out here but here is my 7 month out experiences with the dos and don'ts - i'm not recommending you do it my way cuz i'm super lazy but this is my personal experience,

carbonation - i don't do it often but i have and it hasn't killed me. i think i've had like two mimosas and three sips of coke since sleeved

drinking during meals - i do it all the time but just small sips here and there

carbs - it's very hard for me to eat carbs so i generally don't. i can eat the **** out of some saltines tho lol. potatoes sometimes. rice not much, noodles not much. bread not at all.

hunger level - im still very un-hungry most of the time but i can eat more than i used to. i always eat Protein first. i can't eat all types of meat either so i stick to ground beef/bison/turkey, shrimp, sometimes steak. hardly ever chicken unless it's very tender - it gets stuck in my throat.

throwing up - i've thrown up like 10x but it's usually cuz i do something dumb like eat too fast or too much or take shots of vodka on an empty stomach lol

alcohol - all the time lol. mostly vodka shots cuz it's lower in sugar and it's not carbonated.

counting stuff - i don't do it at all but i recommend you do - im sure my losses would have been better or more consistent if i did. i just try to do the right thing on the daily and see how it goes lol

Water - i suck at drinking Water BAD

Vitamins, Fiber and stuff - i hardly take anything but i know i should/need to

exercise - i work out 3 to 5 days a week including running 2 miles and lifting weights/toning

skin stuff - i have some loose stuff here and there. mostly i've lost my ass completely. if i get to goal and tone for a year and still have it i'll do some sort of body sculpting surgery

i think that's it. if i think of more i'll edit this :) VETS weigh in :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
