Band to sleeve...gaining weight

Recommended Posts

NO you won't gain weight but you won't lose either and i have 2 clients that are overweight and anorexic's and they both have counselors that do work with them and help them. it is not an excuse but a disease and it's really sad to watch them and listen to them about food. One client was in the hospital a couple months ago for starvation and dehydration and she weights 193 lbs at 5 foot. She is very sick and in bad danger. the skinny ones that "think" they are fat and start the starvation diet does loose muscle and weight. it does not work that way for overweight people!!!!! @@NewNewMe

Hi this doesn't have to do with your weight gain but I am waiting for my approval. I am having my band removed as well and they are doing the sleeve. How are you feeling, compared to the band?

i'm doing really good. i'm prob one of the only ones that miss my band. I have a hard time knowing when i'm full now until i'm sick. i measure everything out 3-4 oz a meal but sometimes it seems like everything i eat makes me nauseous. I'm dealing with that all day today. I do good on most days but the weight loss is really slow after having band removed cause your body is use to not getting alot of calories still. I had no problems with my band, the band just decided to do it's own thing and went into my stomach where the stomach tissue and scar tissue grew around it and i didn't know it and had no symptoms. I'm 10 weeks out now and taking it one day at a time. I didn't have all this nausea with he band. the dr said it's just going to take time. I think in the long run it's going to do really good and i look forward to see where i'm at in 6 months and a year. i believe you'll like it but just have to get use to what you can and can't eat. sometimes i eat the same thing and one time it'll make me deathly sick and i may have just eaten the same thing the day before and i was fine. i'm just on a emotional roller coaster right now and they say it's normal so i'm hoping it will ease up. good luck girl. gym and working out is a big deal also.

Thank you for that info. I am having it removed cause the band makes me sick. And when I eat I get sick. I finished all my doctor visits now it's the waiting game from the insurance company.

I lost 100lbs with my band with 700 Cals a day and no stalls. I worked out 5-6 times per week. I lost the weight in 9 months. This time I've lost about 35lbs in about 2 1/2 months. I guess my body doesn't know about starvation.

I feel better than with the band. Not throwing up (as much) but the gas does hurt.

I lost 100 in 8 months with the band. Gained it all back. Have had the sleeve since 8/10 and not eating much of anything. I've lost 3lbs with working out 5 times a week.

this surgery is tricky to say the least. I too am a band to sleeve revision....now putting on...proteins Water exercise....maybe not drinking enough water...hmm...increased exercise a lot...but i am having sugar in tea...in India we drink a lot of tea....i think sugar is totally banned for us..

our body is now refusing to cooperate...like it has a mind of its own.

Restoration15,

Have you tried the Nexium 24 hour? It is amazing! Well, for me anyway. If you can take it, it can't hurt to try. jake

Wow! I'm sorry. I'd sure be asking doctor and NUT about this.

Sweettea, If your comment was aimed at my post, you are correct when you say "I'd sure be asking doctor and NUT about this". We are seasoned WLS patients and no one should ever just try something because someone says so. I should have rephrased my sentence from "If you can take it, it can't hurt to try" should have been "If your doctor approves it can't hurt to try." I was just offering what I thought was a helpful suggestion. BTW, Yes my doctor approved it. Sorry just trying to be helpful. jake

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
