How long off work did you have?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm curious as to how long you've all had off work or are planning to have off work and what the first 7 days post-op was like for you?

I work in an office and have minimal walking/physical activity to do during the day and was hoping to return to work 10 days post-op. I wanted to know peoples thought past experiences?

Hi,

I'm 9 days post op today and will be heading to work tomorrow. Office work, so I should be fine. The first 3 days are not good. Hard to swallow Water, fatigued, pain, and lots of gas. Walk and sip should be your mantra. Day 4 things start to pick uo. I've gone grocery shopping, cleaned house and sat through a 2 hour movie, with my Protein Water of course. I'll let you know how my first day goes. Good luck!

I am a corporate trainer and when I am not teaching - I do office work. I planned 5 days off with an option for 10 days off. Surgery was Monday and I felt good enough to go back on Friday but I did wait till Monday to go back. I wanted to get back to my routine as soon as possible - I was stir crazy at home.

Good luck... my advice, plan 10 days and see how it goes.

I am 7 days out today and it is my first morning here back at work. I have an office job with minimal physical duty so I feel confident I should be fine. I think if you have a similar job situation you will be fine with only a week off of work. I felt rejuvenated about 4 days post surgery and have been fine since then.

I took one week off. Returned to work today (surgery was last Monday)

Everyone has a different experience though, so it's hard to say.

Thank you so much for your quick responses. It's really helpful as I am quite concerned regarding how much pain I will be in for the first week.

I took four weeks off, because I could. It's been a much needed vacation. I work in an office as well and realistically would have been fine to go back 3 days post-op. But I had a super easy recovery.

Today was my first day back to school ( surgery 8/17 with TxTinana) and everything was fine except that I got pretty sore by the time my class actually rolled around 6p-8p because I had decided to catch up on some errands through the beginning of the day. I went from 400-550 steps around the house the past couple of days to 2,500 just today. I should have worked up to it more...but no worse for wear except being sore!

Office worker here sleeved in June. I felt pretty good about 4 days after surgery. I took one week off and returned. I found that first week to be difficult because I tired out easily. Sipping Water was a major focus that week.

I was off two weeks. I too have an office job, but sometimes jump on an ambulance. My doctor made me take two weeks off. Wouldn't sign my release until then. I still can't work on an ambulance for another 3 weeks though. Maybe the temperature will be much cooler then!

I had 4 weeks off even though my surgery and recovery was good. I was tired all the time. My job is quite stressful and busy so didn't want to go back too early then have to go sick again.

Went back to work yesterday but worked from home so not that bad. Went into the office today and did a 10 hour day and now I am in my onesie and curled up on the sofa, knackered!

I took 2 1/2 weeks off. I have a stressful office job. I needed every minute of my time off. I have been back a couple of days now. I am one tired puppy by the time I get home. With that being said, including my commute back and forth I am gone for 11 hours a day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
