Forgive me for starting another post on Protein shakes but I am having some issues finding one I like and would love some tips/advice!

I go see my nutritionist for the first time on Friday and plan on picking up some more sample shakes to try.

I did a big taste test this morning and tried the following:

All shakes mixed in a standard no frills blender.

Bariatric Advantage Chocolate:

Mixed with almond milk had a weird bitter/medicinal taste. I also tried it with PB2 and that was worse. Definitely a "no-go" for this shake.

Bariatric Advantage Vanilla:

Mixed with almond milk, weird fake vanilla flavor and seemed chalky. I added PB2 and a good 2-3TB of Splenda and it was really sweet but I could drink it if I had to.

Bariatric fusion chocolate Fudge:

Again mixed with almond milk. Oh my no way, bitter and chalky.

I have also tried powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury vanilla mixed with Crystal Light lemonade at my support group and that was major yuck.

Samples I plan on buying so far:

nectar doubled stuffed cookie and vanilla

Unjury flavorless (is it really flavorless?)

I am also curious about the premier Protein drinks everyone raves about but I am chicken to buy a case if I don't like them? Can anyone compare them to the shakes I've tried above?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I got a lot of samples from vita lady. Worth the investment . My surgery next week so I'm glad I have choices for later on. I don't like the syntax koolaid type flavored much, but I bet they come in handy afterwards. I love the Premier RTD like everyone else, but who knows if I will after surgery.

I used the Body by Vi protein shakes and used 1% milk and sugar free jello puddings. I would add ice about three quarters of the way of the individual blender shaker, put about 2 tablespoons of the pudding and the 2 scoops of the protein mix (which is flavored vanilla and tastes good by itself). Blend until it is the consistency of a shake. It is REALLY good and you have the opiton to have so many flavors that it doesn't get boring. I still have those every once in awhile. It is hard to drink all of it, so I save the rest for an afternoon or evening snack.

Give it a try, it is really good and most of all filling, while also helping with your sweet tooth. You feel kind of like you're cheating - having a malt or shake that really isn't one but tasts like one!

I hope you enjoy!

PeytonPlace

Didn't like Premier Protein at all. Far too sweet!

I like Prosource no carb liquid Protein

CVS whey Protein powder

CVS whey protein sunfiber (great for preventing constipation)

Isopure naked. (Unflavored and mixes well with hot or cold beverages. Very helpful when you hit that "I can't take another sweet drink" wall.)

Orgain Organics

Syntrax fuzzy navel. The only thing I can eat for the first few hours every AM. It tastes great!

Quest Protein Powder in Vanilla & strawberry

Premier Protein in Strawberries & Creme

Cellucor Whey Protein in Red Velvet Cake Batter

Isopure banana Creme

Isopure Vanilla creme

Isopure Alpine punch (RTD, not the powder)

Isopure unflavored

These are Proteins I've tried so far and all have great flavor and consistency. I tried Cellucor Cor-Fetti Cake Batter and found it a bit too sweet.

Pure Protein makes pretty good shakes. They are premixed so very convenient. They have 170 cals 35g of protein and 4g carbs. Come in a bunch of flavors- chocolate, cookies and cream, vanilla, banana, strawberry. I've tried them all and really like the chocolate and cookies n cream.

I think they're also coming out w a smaller container that has 23g protein. They typically come by the case but If you get it from vitamin shoppe they will let you buy just one to try (or a few).

I love the Unjury vanilla. I didn't find it gritty whatsoever. I thought the fruity flavore of the Syntrax tasted like gelatin /jello... Power crunch makes an amazing vanilla. I'm on the search for a coffee flavored protein but I've had no luck.. They all taste bad. My surgery is this Friday and the trick is going to be finding something that doesn't thicken or turn to sludge while sitting. We can't chug it so I don't want it too thick.

I like the muscle milk strawberries and cream 170 cal 20g Protein. 11 oz 4 for $6.98 at walmart. Didn't think I would like them but they are good not after taste for me.

New favorite, in a little water blenderize 1/4 c of cherries, then add to premier vanilla stirring only with a spoon. AMAZING and keeps the froth to a minimum

Ooooh I want to try this! I like the idea of doing the cherries and then stirring in the vanilla bc I hate the froth

1/2 scoop Premier Protein Chocolate protein powder

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese or 1/4 cup notfat greek yogurt

1 tablespoon Torani Sugar Free Almond Roca syrup (or the Belgian Cookie or S'More syrup flavors)

6-8 ice cubes

vanilla Bariatric advantage. Pb powder, Hershey unsweetened powder and banana extract.

My favorite is rockin refuel. . It is sold in the cold milk section of the grocery store and is made with real milk but is lactose free!! My favorite non sweet is the chicken soup flavor by unjury.. hope this helps. .

syntha 6 isolate in vanilla cake (i think something along the lines of that name), 3/4 tsp instant coffee, 6 oz milk, 4 ice cubes, 1 tsp sf cool whip

or replace coffee with PB2 and take out cool whip

when i was able to buy premier Protein shakes, loved them! i'd add some milk to it and not use the whole box and add 1 tbsp of Torani SF hazelnut syrup...so lovely
