My surgery date was 1/27. I lost 17lbs before surgery and 9 since. Steady is what I'm looking for, as long as the scale is going down every time I step on it I am a happy girl!

Same here Addawn! I had surgery on 1/27 and I have lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks. I had lost 55 lbs in the 8 months prior to starting pre op diet. Then I lost another 10 lbs on the pre op diet. 75 lbs total now and 95 to go. I already am feeling much more confident and happy.

It has been awhile since I have posted this link. It is really worth reading to understand "why" this is happening.

http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php

The vast majority of us that are currently at goal went through the same thing and in hindsight, none of this matters - it is just part of the process. Keep working your plan and you will get to your goals.

@@Jennifer4775 it's true that everyone is different. But as I was told many times it depends on the persons eating habits before surgery. My average calories were 2100 per day. And I lost weight slow as well post op. But someone whose calorie intake was 6000 per day may lose a lot faster right after surgery because of the drastic changes to diet.

It will all even out eventually, your body will get used to the new caloric intake and begin to respond (as long as you're eating right).

I lost 15 lbs pre surgery and 15 lbs the first week on the liquid diet. Since then in 15 weeks, Ive lost 44 lbs....not quite a 3 lb a week average. Not exactly flying off BUT any LOSS is BETTER than any GAIN!!! GOOD LUCK AND KEEP YOUR CHIN UP!!!!!

The first week out I lost about 3 lbs...now on week 4 post op and I'm about 9 lbs down. I'm not going to stress though as my clothes are fitting me better and I can get into outfits that I could not in years. Since I began this journey last sept I am almost 50 lbs lighter. I'm happy knowing that the lbs are gone forever!!!

You know what I think about the slow weight loss. How much slower would it of been if you did not have the surgery? I gave up sugar and flour and soda and anything fried for TWO yrs and loss the total of 6lbs. I know we all get this thought that is going to melt off and I was panicked last week cause I stalled out but I guess the best thing is you are losing. The scale isn't going up. Be positive and remember stress can hinder weight loss and enjoy the journey. We are all here to support you during that journey!

I was the opposite. When I stopped drinking sodas and processed foods plus exercising I did indeed lose 50 lbs in about 6 mths time. The trouble is I would get sick and regain almost of it back. That's one reason why I had the surgery. The doctors can't quite explain why but I knew going in that there was a strong possibly that my chronic uterica would go into remission and it has. For 3 years I was on a cycle of losing 35 - 50 lbs, getting sick and regaining. This tool has me feeling like I can not only lose the weight but keep it off. This is the first time in years I've felt this way.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
