coltonwade I try, I really do try to keep it impersonal. Because to me it really isn't personal. It becomes difficult when someone quotes you and then makes a remark defining what you personally believe in.

The fact that they believe that is not a problem. In fact, as gadget so sweetly pointed out above, I don't agree with most late-term abortions either.

WHY don't you agree with "most" late-term abortions? That's the crux of the matter. What is driving you to disagree?

But the problem is that she wants to control my right (and everyone else's) to make reproductive decisions for themselves.

No, not at all. I 100% believe in everyone's rights to make reproductive decisions. I believe in birth control. I believe in permanent sterilization (uncoerced). I believe in abstinence. What I do NOT believe in is killing another human being; that is not a "reproductive decision" any more than killing your spouse is a "marital decision".

I believe you have the right to drive your car off a cliff and kill yourself. I don't believe you have the right to do it if there's a passenger in the car. I also don't believe you have the right to put a brick on the gas pedal and drive the passenger off the cliff alone, even if it's your car.

She thinks her beliefs trump mine, and yours and everyone else's who happpen to disagree with her.

Nope. I believe the FACTS trump anyone's BELIEF. The FACT of the matter is that the thing growing in the womb is a little human being.

And if they have their way, you are not going to be allowed to have a differing belief on this subject. They're not only going to tell you what to believe, they want to pass a law to enforce their control over your beliefs.

Right now, there is a law that allows you to enforce your beliefs on another human being: the unborn baby. And those beliefs can be lethal to that baby. I am advocating against the oppression of that human being. Control your own body -- go for it -- in any way you wish. Just don't take the body of another person while doing so.

I rest my case! Thanks for proving exactly what I was saying.

Some people believe that they are the ones who are supposed to interpret science and the Bible and what God thinks and they'll let us know what to believe. And they'll swear it is fact, no matter what anyone else believes. And they'll do their damndest to get real graphic on you and fight you to the ground to prove they're right.

Nope this topic isn't one for just getting along or agreeing to disagree. They'll have none of that. They've decided when life begins and when abortion is cold-blooded murder and what kind of murderer you are if you find yourself in the position of having to abort a fertilized egg. For them, there is no discussion or getting along about it. It is a FACT. They don't even agree that one's beliefs enter into it. They've made the decision and they expect us all to agree or we are really bad people.

The fact is that really good people who care passionately about life have been faced with the decision and they have opted for abortion because it is the very best solution for everyone involved. They can't accept the belief that an abortion can be the best solution for everyone. But we can and do believe that.

So I say that they should not make these decisions for the rest of us. They aren't God. They don't get to play God over our bodies. They don't get to tell the rest of us that God joined the sperm and egg because it is in his design - at least they can't tell us all those things and expect us to believe it. Our beliefs are different.

So stick to knitting if your real concern is for all the unwanted children in this world. Get back to joining pregnant women with adoptive parents. Go back to counseling pregnant women that they have options. Spend your time and resources there. Preferably ALL your time. And back off and allow the majority of Americans who believe as we do the freedom to make a choice when they are faced with that necessity, without hitting them with accusations, hatred, graphic material and nasty language designed to make them feel guilty.

Maybe she believes in God, she just doesn't believe in Pattygreen is all....

I said to her: "I thought you didn't believe in God." because her post spoke of God quite a few times, and for someone who doesn't believe he exists, she sure talked like she did.

Some people believe that they are the ones who are supposed to interpret science and the Bible and what God thinks and they'll let us know what to believe.

I never said anything about the Bible. As to interpreting science, science is factual and needs no interpretation.

Are you against infanticide? If so, how dare you impose your views on someone who thinks it's perfectly acceptable.

Do you see the problem here?

They don't even agree that one's beliefs enter into it. They've made the decision and they expect us all to agree or we are really bad people.

No, BJean, your BELIEF does not determine when another person's life begins. When a life begins is empirical, not faith-based, and it certainly isn't contingent on when one person believes it begins.

I never said anyone was a really bad person. Don't put words in my mouth.

They don't get to tell the rest of us that God joined the sperm and egg because it is in his design

I never said anything of the sort. Don't put words in my mouth.

So stick to knitting if your real concern is for all the unwanted children in this world.

Careful -- your condescension is showing. Didn't you just say above that you were going to try not to get personal?

Patty why are you convinced that I don't believe in God? You're really off base on making those judgements about people just because you don't like or agree with what they say.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
