make up....not for me I'm sure ill feel kinda crappy so I want to look equally as crappy. I wish i had a maxi dress but then again i don't own any dresses. I don't know what the weather will be like in mexico and I'm not sure if I want to dress wrong get back to colorado and freeze. so I'm wearing sweat pants and t-shirts. I'm dreading the flight since the seats are so tiny and my butt is so big!

Lol yeah, I live in AK, so I am bringing a pair of yoga pants and a sweatshirt in my carry-on for when I get home. I'd rather not die during the deplaning process lol.

I actually bought a seatbelt extender for the trip down there. I can usually squeeze in, but figured it would be nice to feel my legs during the flight and have a few inches to allow a bit of leeway... I like the outside isles in the back of the plane. Most of the time you can put the outer arm rest up and give yourself some extra seat room. Plus, I like being close to the bathroom so I don't have to apologize to 50 people for bumping them.

God, I am so excited to be normal size and not have to worry about this ever again. Sigh.

Yea I have not bought one I usually just ask for one thats why I do priority boarding so i'm not asking in front of 100 ppl..it's like yelling hey fatty here I can't fit the seat belt! I do have an aisle seat as well on the way home it is in the back otherwise i'm in the front. the seats in the back of planes tends to be a lil smaller but i'm hoping i'm a lil smaller too. I CAN'T believe we only have 7 more weeks! How friggin exciting is that. I use to be 150 lbs so I have some clothes I can get into but of course im going to buy all new stuff. YAY!

I decided on maxi dresses bc I scared of being uncomfortable with the waist band of pants.. And weather for me prolly won't be bad bc I live in Texas so the weather won't be too bad. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN BRING G2 Gatorade into Mexico I know there's a Walmart like 3 blocks from the hotel but I'm not sure how I feel about walking to it??

It should be fine if you buy it when you arrive in San Diego. Also don't fret about walking to the Walmart. Mexico isn't any worse than the U.S. and their Walmart has all the same stuff as ours.

I did not find one maxi dress that was even remotely flattering to my figure so I just think it will be sweats for me. my waist band does not cinch or anything so I think it will be very comfortable. you can just about everything drink wise in mexico that you can in usa. btw i have not had soda or anything but once a day cup of peppermint tea for 23 days. it was not as hard as I thought it would be!

Mine is Jan 13th!!! I'm getting so excited. I have a two week pre op full liquid diet. I'm very nervous about this. I need to figure out what Protein is the best. I don't have the money to spend to try all different kinds. Congrats to all!!

Congrats on setting a date!!

I found "premier protein" to be delicious and affordable ( choc flavor.) can be bought in bulk @ costco and pre made for an easy 30g protein!!

I think it's safe to say we are all a bit apprehensive about liquid dieting! However, I tell myself it's SO worth it! Stay positive and make sure and write in for encouragement in the low times. :)

My husband just asked me when my surgery date is. This is all I've been talking about for 5 months. It's taking everything not to punch him in the face right now.. . Just had to vent :)

I don't like Protein Shakes mostly because they are usually chocolate or vanilla and almost always chalky tasting. But I did buy the Atkins pre made shakes (cafe caramel and mocha latte) and I kind of like them. Probably because I'm a coffee drinker and they have coffee in them. Probably not good for after surgery but for the pre-op stage it's not bad.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
