November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!

Hi.

I'm Deb from N. Carolina. I started this whole process back in August after a visit to my regular doctor. After way too many years of yo-yo dieting and never getting the job done, it's all caught up to me. Now I'm heavier than I've ever been, my BP is on the rise and so is my cholesterol. My arthritis is terrible in my knees and ankles. I retired a couple years ago and I hate it because I can't do any of the things my husband and I talked about doing at this time in our lives. It's time to move forward.....

My surgery is scheduled for Nov.11th. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I'm hoping that others that are getting ready to have their surgery in November might be interested in connecting to create a support group. Let's make this journey together and be there to support one another no matter where we live or what our ages may be.

I've been looking at many of the other discussions and some are great, but I have a hard time keeping up with all of them in different places. I'm wondering if a group like this would make it easier to keep tract of whatever we want to talk about.

What do you think????

I look forward to hearing from folks.

Deb

I am struggling today the weekends are really hard. I do better during the work because I'm at work and I'm very busy. To make things worse "Big Red" is coming, plus I have been sick. I just got finish telling myself you can do this, so I got up and got a protein drink. I want a bag of chips so bad right now. It is a mind thing. If I get to hungry, I have been eating eggs or broth with white chicken meat in it. Trying to stay strong.

I also found the weekends to be difficult during my pre op diet. If you cheat do something like eat 1 oz of chicken breast. Put down the chips! LOL

I am hanging in there no chips???? I just eat more protein.

Hi all,

I had my surgery November 4th and spent two nights in the hospital. All went well however they said that I had fatty liver disease. They said that losing weight will help with this and now I see how important this surgery was for me to have although I was very scared and apprehensive before hand. I am doing ok. Have pain in the left incision site. I get tired quickly. I am drinking some soups and eating popsicles. I am doing ok drinking skim milk. I am trying to get my protein in but it is hard. I would love to connect with you all so that we can share our stories. I definitely need some surgery buddies.

Hi y'all. In about 36 hours, I will be in the OR. Seems really surreal after all these months to finally be near the finish line. I had my last solid food for a while tonight. I only have one day of liquid preop diet, so I get to start that tomorrow. I don't know why some doctors require 2 weeks or more and others don't? Maybe they go in a different way and so some need the liver smaller? Or maybe my doc just figures people will cheat anyway so why bother? Who knows? Anyway, I feel for those of you who have to do it for so long. I am sure the postop diet part will be hard enough.

I am strangely calm about things now. I already had my panic attack earlier in the week so I hope I got that out of my system!

@@ptksmcc - glad to hear your surgery went so well! Feel free to friend me if you want a buddy. I will be joining you very shortly! Any last minute words of advice?

Good luck to you both!!! I just had surgery on November 4th.

I did 10 days liquid diet. I knew from a ct scan earlier his year that I had fatty liver. The operation for my dr.s part took an hour and 15 minutes. He said that was pretty good. Im also glad for the 10 day diet because it got me in the mindset for after the surgery liquid diet.

So I happened to be one of those 1% people. Surgery took an hour to an hour and a half longer than expected. Dr. said my abdominal anatomy was not "typical" and one of my abdominal walls were really thick. I ended up being in recovery for 2.5 to three hours extra than usual as well. Other than the excruciating pain, all my other stats are perfect and my pain level is finally heading down! I was definitely envious of all you guys who seemed to have a fairly easy recovery. I wasn't going to share my experience on here, but I highly doubt someone else has screwed up belly anatomy and it's what this site is for! I'm doing better now. Struggling with knowing I'm full of water before I get that nauseating feeling. That comes with time I guess. Finally leaving the hospital tomorrow!

I'm scheduled November 13

Hello!!!

I am scheduled for TODAY....November 10th. AH! So much excitement, nerves, unknowns. I've been on the 2 week liquid diet (1,000 calories or less) and dropped like 14 lbs from it. Cannot wait to make it to the other side.

Have a great day - I hope too as well!
