November Surgery Dates Anyone? Let's Connect!

Hi.

I'm Deb from N. Carolina. I started this whole process back in August after a visit to my regular doctor. After way too many years of yo-yo dieting and never getting the job done, it's all caught up to me. Now I'm heavier than I've ever been, my BP is on the rise and so is my cholesterol. My arthritis is terrible in my knees and ankles. I retired a couple years ago and I hate it because I can't do any of the things my husband and I talked about doing at this time in our lives. It's time to move forward.....

My surgery is scheduled for Nov.11th. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I'm hoping that others that are getting ready to have their surgery in November might be interested in connecting to create a support group. Let's make this journey together and be there to support one another no matter where we live or what our ages may be.

I've been looking at many of the other discussions and some are great, but I have a hard time keeping up with all of them in different places. I'm wondering if a group like this would make it easier to keep tract of whatever we want to talk about.

What do you think????

I look forward to hearing from folks.

Deb

My surgery was a little slower than average yesterday. High blood pressure the morning of surgery and during surgery. I slept all night on and off. No major pains except getting out of bed. Hard time peeing and they did an in/out cath to get it out. I'm supposed to get up three times today to walk. Just waiting on a test this morning to make sure there are no leaks then onto liquids. I have not drank anything since Monday around 6 pm. That also means no proteins and vitamins. I can't wait to start drinking again. Then Thursday they will discharge me. Yes two night stay. I'll be glad to get back home.

Hey Everbody!! So I had my surgery yesterday afternoon. I was in alot pain right afterwards, but it got better as the day progressed. My overnight went, I slept in the chair because the Nurse said that is better. I tell you the pre op diet is VERY IMPORTANT! My doctor said that my livrr shrank so much that the surgery easy. Today several of the healthcare workers said that I look so good that they can't believe that I had surgery yesterday. I feel great and I'm e cited about the nrct phase of this journey!! Love you all....

Nicole they just brought me some broth. I'm supposed to drink 1 ounce an hour. I'll go home when I can drink 4 ounces an hour. What is amazing to my wife is that I was soooooo hungry yesterday, while today I'm not hungry at all!!! Truly amazing....

They finally got my swallow test done around noon. Around that time they brought a little ounce of water and said I could have that every two. Ok so tours later I asked when I could get some protein. They brought me an ounce of that and said I cold have an ounce an hour. After tasting it I'd rather drink water lol. They never gave me any instructions like if you drink 4 ounces an hour then I cod go home.

I had to ask for a different protein. They had put s sweet protein into chicken broth. Yuck.

Congrats to everyone who has had their surgery! It eases the nerves a little to hear how well you all have done

Hey 4th of November people!!! I'm sitting here drinking this tasteless unsweetened tea, but the wetness feels good in my mouth. The Doc came about an hour ago. He says that my white blood count is high. He wants to make sure that it's not from an infection, else wise everything is great. I'm already up to 2 ounces of fluid an hour. So pumped up for the future. Already the last two days have been awesome!!!

Hey there Jeffery. I'm so happy to hear that everything went well for you. I sure hope my liver is shrunk enough. I'm really anxious to hear how the next week or so goes for you once you get home.

I'm so glad to hear that! Mine is next Tuesday and I can't wait. Whoohoo!

Hey there karebearr100 You and I both go on Tuesday. Are you in panic mode yet? I am. I have to go out of town for the weekend, so maybe it'll help keep my mind occupied. We'll have to compare notes day by day.

hugs....

Big smiles and hugs to everyone who's already had their surgery this month and are on the mend. It'll be exciting to hear reports as things go on for everyone.

I'm curious about the idea of not being able to go home until you can drink 4oz. an hour. I haven't gotten any word on a time frame for release yet. All I really know is that I should plan on at least 2 nights in the hospital.

My surgery is next Tues. I'm really starting to get panicky. Still doing the pre-op diet. I sure hope my liver shrinks as much as Jeffery's did.

I have to go out of town tomorrow until Sunday night. My father in law is rapidly declining, and I'm so afraid that if I don't see him this weekend I won't have the chance to see him before he passes. I'm anxious to see him, and cry every time I think about saying goodbye. It breaks my heart. I'll miss him so much.

I dread having to get on an airplane tomorrow. I tried to book my seats so that I'd have no one next to me. It's so embarrassing when you practically engulf the person next to you. I hope no one else books before tomorrow afternoon.

I'll try to keep in touch while I'm gone.

Just panicked a bit. Bawled like a baby in the parking lot of Wal-Mart (needed some non-slip slippers, I hate wearing socks) for about 5 minutes then I was fine. I don't even know what part of this whole process I'm scared of anymore. I think doing my living will/medical power of attorney papers really freaked me out. I know the risks are low compared to my risks of long term obesity. I don't even really know what started it. So glad my surgeon said I could take a Xanax in the morning! My surgery is at 11:55 am...ahhhh! First day of my healthier new life!
