  1. My surgery is scheduled for November 19, 2014. Lots of feelings but mostly excited but there is a little bit of nervousness of the unknown. hopefully all of us November 2014 Lab Ban surgery survivors can stay in touch and be of some support for each other. Sharing the good the bad and everything in between.
  2. Well it has been a long day. The news is not good. I have breast cancer. I am still a little surprised of course, most people are. I don't want to freak myself out, I will take one visit at a time. The breast center is really good. They are moving so fast with this. I already have an appointment with the surgeon with the oncologist and an MRI. All of these appointments are before the new year. The support from the people at the Center was great. As you can imagine most of the information that they are telling you is not making a lot of sense. I was scheduled for my first fill 1/5, not sure about that at this point. I am going to call my doctor on Friday or Monday. I know this sounds crazy but I did so much to get to this point with my lap ban, what now. Am I in denial about the cancer why am I focused on the lap band at this point I think I still don't believe it. My husband, son and Mom are really having a hard time. I keep telling them I will be ok. I will be a survivor with the pink shirt I'm going to be okay. One appointment at a time.

Hello, I thought I write an update. I am doing really good lost a total of 26.5 pounds pre/post op. I had gained 2 lbs once I stated eating again but that is normal. Have not had a fill yet, won't happen until sometime in January. So I am really trying to make sure that I can either stay at the same weight or continue to lose weight. Started working, not a hard workout but walking and riding my stationary bike at least four times a week while I watch the biggest loser. About 3 weeks after the surgery I felt a lump in my breast, called the doctor immediately and got an appointment. Yesterday I went for the mammogram and a sonogram and the doctor was a little concerned on what he saw, so he decided to do a biopsy right away. I go back today to find out the results trying not to worry until I need to worry. Glad I will no one way or another today. The funny thing is I wanted to come home and eat my comfort food which is spaghetti but Instead I came home and had a Protein drink. ????

  8. I had lap-ban on 11/19. Don't start your journey with a lie. I started the pre-op diet before and told people I was on a high Protein no carb diet, which was true. Started walking during lunch. Was off for 10 days after my surgery, was told I would only need 5, but I needed more. I thought I had planned it just right. Surgery on Thursday, thought I would be back to work by Monday maybe Tuesday. But no I needed more. I was a mess after. My energy level was low. I needed more recovery time. Each person is different. I have a great relationship with my boss so when I needed more time she was fine with it. When I returned no one notice right away because I had already started this life change before I had the surgery. It took about another 2 weeks before people started to say you look good. Did not have to explain a lot because I had already set the stage weeks before. I would just continue to say high protein no carbs. A few people said that is great, think I might try that. I have lost a total of 26lbs pre-op and post-op, no fill yet. The challenge for me is keeping the 26 pounds off and continue to lose more weight until I get my fill. I started working out which is very helpful, not a hard worked out but walking and riding my stationary bike while I look at the biggest loser. I feel good about my progress up to this point. It is a process and a journey. Start it off positive not with a lie. Be true to yourself. People will ask and some people do not know how to filter on mind their own business, however how you respond will put them in their place. You say things like why do I look good, because I feel great. High protein no carbs. Think of your responses before they ask. Only share if you want to, with who you want to share. Don't feel guilty about starting to look good and healthy and how you accomplish it. This is still hard work. We all understand.
  9. You are 100% correct. Falls under HIPPA rights. All you have to say is surgery.
  10. I had the worst headache pre op and post op. I was so depressed. I was told it was a no carbs headache. Do some research on line. No carbs is a big deal. It took about 7 days after the surgery for the headache to go away. It was so bad my doctor sent me foe an MRI. I never had headaches like that before. You know your body, if something does not feel right go to the doctor. Trust how you feel.

I am a little confused, if your band is to tight when you're only on liquids/mushy foods, why would you gain weight.

  17. I have the same feeling.what is that?
  18. I got my date (November 19, 2014). So excited. ???? I have even stated getting ready for the 2 weeks liquid diet. During the day I've been drinking the protein drinks along with all types of liquids, like broth, jello and ice pops. I eat dinner when I get home. Then 2 days last week I went the entire day liquids. I did good. My family helped by cooking dinner, I went into my bed room ????. This test really helped me. The thought of going cold turkey all at once was causing me stress. I lost 10 pds already. I even thought of not doing the surgery but I know the 10 pds won't stay off if I don't get the lap ban. I took the 10 pd loss as a sign that I am ready for this and I can do it. Lisa
  19. 10000 + steps and 30 minutes you did outstanding. Saw my doctor today and my next appointment is 1/5 so no fill until then.
