September surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi September surgery friends! Is anyone else worried about the statistics for total weight loss after surgery? I'm obsessing, worrying... The stats say average weight loss after one year is 62%! I have 100 lbs to lose so applying that stat to me would mean only 62 lbs. I think I really need a support group to actually go to for help. Anyone else have this concern? Do any of you know of a support group in Orange County, CA?

I've been worried about that too, I have about 100-120 to lose, i know it's all about the individual but I am a numbers person and I like to know everything I can before I do anything. I'm trying not to bug my surgical team so much but they have been great. They have told me 60% is what they consider success, so I am thinking that is kind of what they would say if someone didn't live up to the expectations. My mother is 6 months out & down 70 lbs so it's all about what we do and how serious we are!

They also tell me it's related to how much you need to lose to begin with. Someone who needs to lose a lot more than that will have a faster loss than someone with 100lbs to lose.

Today is the big day ????

Yay.... It's finally here!

Just keep that positive vibe you have had and everything will work out. Tell yourself that everything will be fine and that you won't have any issues.

I am on day 4 post op and I feel great... Not one problem other than the avoidable gas pains and they are not debilitating or anything.

Good luck... I can't wait to hear from you post op.

@@Ramuse! How are you feeling?! I've been out of surgery for about 7 hrs and so far everything is good! Just very very sleepy. I had a bit of nausea but they gave me meds for that and now I feel fine. I've also had the after effects of the gas pain. It's all up in my chest right now. :( no fun. As far as the incision pain.... I have none at all! :)

So many of you had surgery this week! How are you all feeling? I'm 10 days post-op and feel pretty good - I just get really tired all of a sudden, but it gets better every day. Cannot wait to hear how you're doing!

Glad you are doing well! Have the 10 days flown by? How was your experience with the operation? With eating? Protein? What's working for you what's not? What do you think is making you so tired?

Everyone in my cluster seems to have pretty good experiences. There was one gal who had a rough go of it in the hospital but seems to be coming around. My journey to the operating room table was more then a little delayed that day but I went home less then 12 hours after he finished operating on me because I was doing so well. Walking feels great my belly looks like I went rounds with someone it's very bruised. But getting my fluids on & all but 15 grams of my protein. I am so happy I did this for me & my family.

I typically hate social media but this sites been so much fun for me during this process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
