I was told to wait 2 weeks by my surgeon!

I didn't really crave it at all, but I did miss it. I am 9 1/2 weeks and just this past week I started having a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee every day. I have a medium with skim milk and splenda. That is my new "treat". I did have a cup of hot coffee before I started with the iced coffee. It was fine - didn't bother me at all, but didn't quite taste as good as I remember.

I waited 3 months before going back to regular coffee. And sshh, don't tell my surgeon or dietician, but I started drinking Chike Protein Shakes (with real caffeine) almost immediately after surgery - and adding instant coffee granules to them as well. So far neither one seems to have hurt me!

I had no restrictions on coffee other than keeping it clear for the first week. I waited at least a week but I had no interest in at that point and I can't drink it without Creamer. It took a few weeks to get back up to drinking it regularly because it didn't sit well at first. It initially gave me some heartburn but once the swelling went down, I had no problems.

My coffee restriction from day one has been 1 8oz portion a day. I didn't start drinking coffee again however until about 2 weeks ago (6 weeks post op), but only because I wasn't wanting it before then. I had forgotten how great of a morning hello coffee is!!

I had no coffee restrictions except to only have 8 ounces a day. I only do the Chike Coffee Protein Shakes to the caffeine and Protein in one.

I would say I started to have some after my 2-week post op appt and my surgeon said it was ok. I drink it black anyway, so it's not like I added cream or sugar or anything. I find a good cup of coffee or tea actually helps with cravings sometimes too.

I have Chike Decaf expresso Protein Drink. Blend it with ice. Just like a frappe. Nice treat and adding Protein to boot!

I would have to check my old posts - sooner than I should have (no really), and I was NOT a people person in the mornings either.

No restriction except for clear diet phase. I was actually given coffee with my Breakfast tray the morning after surgery. and since then I use splenda and fat free half and half.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
