Wow guys... you've all been busy here... first PB? I WISH I'd only had my first! Lol.

Congrats BB on getting you some cute SMALLER panties!! Woot! Mine are becoming sagging in the butt, so I need to go treat myself to some new ones!

As for ME - I had a fabulous Thankgiving. My family kept hugging me and congratulating me on my weightloss and bugging me to know 'how' I did it. I just credited 'eating better' - cause overall, it's true. It was so nice though to have people see it, acuse I've worked damned hard for it! Before my uncle left yesterday morning (he llives in Mississippi) he hugged me and told me to no lose anymore cause I'll blow away in the wind - Ha! I still weigh 310!! Lol. Ohhh, my family is too kind. I told him to look for me in May (family reunion) cause he won't even recognize then! I'm so hoping for at least another 50 off by then!!

ANYWAY... I've bannished myself to two days of Clear Liquids, then one day of full liquids for pigging out on the damn Peanut Butter balls and other random easily swallowed Desserts. Why the hell can I inhale crap sugary desserts when I will PB on a very very very well chewed piece of ham and turkey??

At least I'm still down about 0.6 of a pound. I just knew I'd gained like 5 pounds cause we eat eat eat for 3-4 days. Ugh! Lol!!

Suzzie I am right there with you on the sugary foods! I could barely eat the Thanksgiving meal. Everyone was looking at me with that "so sad" look on their faces. I just got up and started cleaning up the kitchen. I did drink refills, etc. just to keep me busy.

But .... 20 minutes later I ate my piece of pumpkin pie with NOOOOO problem and of course they made a comment about that. Yep - the crap goes right on through without a problem. It was a little depressing but in the end I feel free-er.

I also went on liquids for 2 days after Thanksgiving! I didn't eat any dessert, but the food was fatty enough! Now we have so many leftovers, I'm only eating the turkey and I've left the rest to my husband. My weight did go up about a pound, but I'm hoping the liquids (and the extra walking I've been doing over the past few days) put me back on track.

One of my clients noticed my weight loss last week. He said he barely recognized me and he thought I looked great. I've only lost 30 lbs, so I don't see a HUGE difference, but I'll take what I can get. Although he is a little creepy, it was nice to have someone say that. I told him what I tell everyone -- I've been working out a lot with a personal trainer and I've been eating better. Those things are true and the rest is no one's business.

sorry about that! typing on my lap top in the chair watching TV!

FARMER E You make a good point, I really think it has to be how I am eating and that I am tighter. Up to this point my size of bites and pace was not impacted. I haven't been able to eat real food for several days. I had an omlet and potatoes for brunch today when my dh and I were out. I did get half of the omlet down, however it was hard. I had to really be careful. But I really needed the Protein. then for dinner I really wanted some meatballs, sausage and spaghetti. I thought I cut it up real small, but it was stuck after bite two I was able to walk it off , but then gave up eating someting I really wanted. I was depressed. I can sit and eat pretzels and junk but no good food works! I really don't know what to do about the fill on Tuesday. I dont want to not get it and be eating to much a week later? but after what has been happening the past week, I should figure out what to eat and do that first. what do you all think?

Thanksgiving dinner went very normally for me, and I ate my usual portion, very slowly, and no roll. I had some slow moving food at first, but no sliming. I felt completely at ease with all of it. We spent the next couple of days visiting my brother's family and that was a different story. I felt very much "under the microscope" even by dh because they were all pigging out and I didn't care to. I got a fill on Saturday, and was going easy on it...I *know* I should have been doing liquids, but maybe the scrutiny got to me, so I had salads and little meat. Today at lunch, my brother barbecued beer can chicken and they made a corn salad....I did notice the high salt content in *everything* and the high carbs and no fresh stuff because my eating has changed soooo much over the past 5 months....and I ate a couple bites and that was all I could handle. So I put my plate aside and waited. When dh got up for ginormous seconds, I handed him my plate and darn him if he didn't make a scene and ask me what was wrong with me. Ugh! He'll have to get used to me eating about 1/2-1 cup I guess. I hope this fill does the trick. It feels very "sweet" today. I love it. I expect it to do it's thang and get too tight or be good for a week and then loosen up but we'll see. I only got .04 but she drew it all out and said I'm at 6.8 now. Whatever! I don't care about the numbers. I'm still wearing the body bugg and shooting for my burn target, but I just gained weight obsessing about calories so I stopped logging in the food. I just do better that way. I hate that I've gained and that my weight is virtually the same as it was in September with the fill/unfill yo yo. I'm getting back on the eliptical trainer this week and getting my butt out of the house to walk the dog, and hoping to get the next 10# off.

Good for you Rhonda at pushing your plate aside!! I did that too and all I had left was a peice of ham and a few bites of potatoes and green beans... we are a 'clean plate' family so I got some stares... but no one said anything.

So, I thought I would share with y'all.

I've been kinda jealous that everyone seems to be getting aggressive fills and so it seems like it makes sense that everyone has pb'd or had issues with food. Here I thought I only had 2.8 in a 10cc band and was wondering why I was having problems with foods too with so little in my band. Was also wondering why my doc wasn't doing bigger fills. Was I that big of a goober that I couldn't handle it? I had been thinking along those lines.

Went to the doc's today for a fill. After talking with him, he put .5cc in and stated that it was considered an aggressive fill. I was sort of like WTH in my head. Well...it turns out that I had misunderstood the doctor in the beginning. I have a 10 CENTIMETER band that only holds 4cc. Duh. :faint:So now it makes sense that I feel I have restriction. But now I'm paranoid I'm going to be over-filled. Random how that works eh?

Just a moment of clarity for me today. Thanks for letting me share.

I think the trick of eating with friends and family is to make your little bit of food last as long as their big platefuls. We need to be able to talk a lot and wave our forks about. In the olden days before band it used to fraustrate me to watch someone eating slowly, mostly because I like my food hot and I could see their food getting cold. When I go to a restaurant I now always eat half of what is on my plate and I try to make it last as long as possible.

FarmerE, Wow 3.3 in a 4 cc band I'm at 1.6 cc and gaining weight and very frustrated. I wish I could get an aggressive fill. I go tomorrow again I've been there 7 times for fills. Are you feeling retricted now? I wish you the best.

Sheila

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
