Waiting is the worst!! LOL in my doctors office there are "normal" gals, which, admittedly is much more comfortable.

Good luck!

My surgeon's wife is drop dead gorgeous. His other workers are pretty and normal, too, but they never make me feel fat or ugly. All have been 100% great. The nurses at the hospital, though all seem to have a weight problem. Maybe it's the stress. Ever notice?

Yes, I've noticed that also. It amazes me though. You would think, being active and on their feet all day, that weight wouldn't be a big problem. I mean they have to be able to help patients and move fast. Guess it depends on where in the hospital they work.

I am 8 days post op after having my sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. I also had 3 hours of adhesion lysis before they even started that part because my stomach and intestines were all stuck together and to my abdominal walls with scar tissue from previous surgeries. I never do anything the easy way. That being said, I had my follow up appointment today, first with my NUT and then my surgeon. They were both very happy with my progress, although I'm still sore and tender from the first part of my surgery. I started full liquids yesterday and had no problems except I wasn't able to take in the recommended portions or Protein, but I'm working on it. I'm up to about 42 oz of Water a day and am working on that, too. I have a bunch of crystal light packs that I bought but don't like the sweet taste. It's plain water all the way for me. The best news was I lost 12.1 lbs since the day before surgery and a total of 30 lbs since I began at my first appointment. I feel great and go to the gym to walk on the treadmill which I've done the past three days. I'll get back to the stationary bike and stepper next week. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I feel like I'm well on my way to a healthy life. I'm a type I diabetic so I'll never be able to throw away the insulin but I have cut it back by more than 80% of what I took before surgery. Yay me! I'm so glad I didn't let my age (64) stop me from doing this. I feel great!!

So glad you are doing ok. The scar tissue from previous surgeries is something that I am concerned about also. Guess they don't know until they get in there huh?

Sure hope age doesn't make a difference, I will be 67 when I have the surgery. Still don't feel like I'm that old though. I feel the weight though.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.

FYI: To help with fluids and Protein intake try ProHydrate raspberry lemonade. It has 20gm protein (Whey isolate) in 11oz. It's not overwhelmingly sweet (uses Stevia). Can be frozen into Popsicles. My nut says it's one of the most natural of the Protein Drinks.< /p>

My surgeon expected to find adhesions (scar tissue) due to my previous surgical history, but he didn't expect what he found when he got in there. He told me today that his first thought was just to stop and say nope, can't do it, but thank goodness he carried on. He had photos and a video made because he had never seen such a mess. I apparently had wire sutures that had broken and were hanging into my intestines, too. He said he just kept going, would take a break, etc. I'm so happy he did. I guess everyone is a big surprise to the surgeon once they get in there and I'm sure they realize there is a chance of coming across this problem, especially in our age group. I hope all goes well with your surgery.

Hi there, I was at Sprouts the other day and decided to try their whey Protein Powder. They have single serving packages, $1.99 each. I got the chocolate and was pleasantly surprised, it was good. It has 18g of Protein, 2g carbs, 1g fat, 1g sugar. The protein/calorie ratio is great, 18g protein to 90 calories. This is in 3-4 oz Water or milk. I mixed with 1% milk. I don't think they have plain, but they do have vanilla and strawberry. This is the only one I've tried, but like I said, it was good.

I bet it could be frozen into kind of a fudgecycle (sp) that would be good, especially in this summer.

HI Folks...just wondering if anyone else was told that " hot dogs and sausages" would never be on their menu again, after the sleeve surgery? Also, has anyone eaten these items and how did your stomach react to them? I know that these meats / Proteins are not best ones for us, but I thought , if it's one of those " once in a while" items, and eaten in the proper small amount ( 3-4 oz. right? ) that it might be safe to include them in our eating choices. Thanks for sharing any info or experiences with me :)

The day of surgery I was totally craving a costco hot dog, in fact I was happy when they said my sodium level was low and they may have to postpone surgery. In time my levels came up and I had the surgery. However the craving was still there.

I finally gave in at about three months and got the dog, complete with mustard, relish and onions. It was as wonderful as I had hoped. And after two bites I was satisfied. No problems with my stomach at all. I think I have purchased two since then and have never been able to eat more than a few bites. It's not the best thing nutrition wise, but I figure that an occasional indulgence is good for the soul.

To Lady1Putt, congratulations you are doing great! And to oceanwaves60, welcome! I wish I had done this at 60.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
