Hi ladies!

Meant to send this yesterday, but happy two month surgiversary! I hope all is well! I'm doing good, other than a terrifying issue with Constipation a few days ago (TMI- sorry), but now that it's resolved, I feel awesome! Exercise routine is finally becoming "routine" and MFP is helping me stay on track! The weight loss is finally speeding up a bit, too!

Again, hope you are well!

Hello April 30th and all sleevers!

Kaypay10, you have done great at 60 lbs since your start! I did not lose very much pre op. At 2 wks pre op I called and my program group told me to just eat very low fat and low carbs. That was nice that I did not have to stress over a full liq diet. Thus far I have lost 50 lbs. starting wt was 358. I have not been able to exercise very much because 2 wks before my sleeve the ortho told me that I need a total knee replacement. How sad I was and still am.

I was at a convention last wk that required a lot of walking. I thought this would be great. I was very careful as I didn't want to fall the way I did ( with the pop, crack then fall ) when I first noticed a problem. Although I have lost 58 lbs since then, I have found that my knee is still giving me problems. After the convention when I do normal routines my knee gives me sharp stabbing pains that bring me to a dead stop. I had hoped that wt loss would buy me some time. I now wear a knee brace which lets me at least walk short distances without screaming from the awful knee pain. Wish me well. :-(

Hello Folks,

Happy to have found this group!

I was sleeved on April 28. My highest was 259 today Im 216 or 217 depending on what the scale feels….

Protein was my greatest challenge since I could only eat 2 ounces at a time and less of dense protein. I also hated all protein shakes…. At this stage I'm doing much better with protein. I may still need the help of a shake here and there but its getting better. Now I need to focus on keep both protein and Water up - almost feels like a full time job to constantly think about and put protein in and get the water in between but Im getting there…. Also on my agenda is to really commit to working out. I would like to try the new beach body workout - PIYO. Let me know if anyone is doing that.

Congrats to all of us April sleevers!

That's good that you are better with your Protein Plumlove. I have been having problems with it from the get go. I couldn't handle the Protein shakes after surgery. They made me gag so the surgeon told me to discontinue them. Even now though, I can eat what I want and I am STILL struggling to get all of my Protein in! I think it's because I still can't eat that much and I haven't been eating actual meat all that much.

Glad you made it here momof2! I am about where you are. My HW was 272 and I was 252 the day of surgery. Now I am 217 as of today! It's super exciting! I am down 4 pants sizes. So glad/relieved that this is working and I am doing everything I can to work with it.

I think I'm finally through my stall - must have been 3 weeks long! I think changing up the exercise and plain old patience worked. I'm accepting that I won't lose as fast as lots of folks, but as long as I keep losing, I can hang in there.

Over the weekend I was out of town and eating every meal out. I made very good choices compare to my past behavior! I did end up eating some sweetened yogurt when there wasn't another choice -- sure didn't feel well after, either. Other times I ate too fast and had to rush to the bathroom to get rid what I'd overeaten. But I got some good workouts in and just walked a lot more than I normally do in my daily life. And I think that's what broke the stall, yay. Fingers crossed.

A few weeks after surgery I started feeling hunger and got depressed that it was coming back so soon. But now it seems to be lessened again, so I guess the point is not to assume how you feel today is how you'll feel in a week!

It's great hearing how you're all doing -- please keep posting!

Michelle - I was out of town this weekend too eating out pretty much every meal. We were gone for 5 days! I am proud of most of my choices but I had a hard time a couple of times. I tried eating pizza which was one of my favorite foods pre-surgery. I was SO disappointed with the pizza and it wasn't interesting to me any longer. Something I can definitely live without from here on out. We also did a lot of walking, more so than usual so I felt good about the amount of exercise I got.

I am glad to hear you are out of your stall! It's frustrating but at least you are losing. I have recently started to feel hunger again. It's usually a few hours after Breakfast so I am wondering if maybe I am not eating enough for Breakfast to keep me satisfied. I don't know.....

I haven't had a stall yet, however, I never lost a huge amount at one time after surgery. At 10 weeks out, I'm down 31 lbs. since surgery, which is a steady 3 lbs per week, and I am FINE with that! I've joined 24 Hour Fitness and am working out 6 days a week. I feel great and I'm down 5 clothing sizes since November (and 82 lbs. total!). I've been completely committed to healthy eating and I'm proud to say I have not eaten a single bite of anything my NUT wouldn't approve of, and guess what? I don't miss the junk!!

I'm hungry when I should be, and easily full. My biggest concern is not getting enough calories. I average about 600-700 on a good day. At 60 g of carbs or less per day, 30 g or less of fat, it's hard to get my calories up! I'm sure it will continue to get easier. No vomiting or issues with eating, but I have had a few uncomfortable moments when I've eaten too fast or chewed too little.

This has been quite an adventure so far! I can't wait to see what the future holds for all of us!

How is everyone? I'm finally losing at a faster pace, yay! From 1-2 lbs/week, now it seems to be 2.5-3. If this keeps up, I'll remain very happy. I'm not really doing anything differently, other than my workouts are getting more intense. I think it's just breaking through a stall at a weight I held for a long time, and just my body accepting this is a long-term regimen, haha.

The surgery already seems like a distant memory. I'm able to eat just about anything as far as texture, even chicken if it's moist. My 'small' jeans are getting baggy. Could I be a size 20 in a couple months? Maybe, and that would be a first for the last couple of decades!

Hope you're all feeling well and happy with the journey!

Hello!

I had vsg on 4/29. I'm so glad that I've found this thread. I'm definitely feeling like it's time to give and get some support. I'm down 40lbs from my surgery date and really struggling with how I feel about that. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Michelle, congrats!!! I'm so glad to hear you are doing well!

Sommer, welcome!! When you say you don't know how you feel about your 40 lb. loss, what do you mean? I'm glad you've found us! This is a great forum, however, I don't spend as much time here as I used to.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to check in. I am doing okay but I'm having a couple of issues. I thought maybe I would run them by you all too see if I could get some advice on how to deal.

So my first issue is is that I seem to throw up everytime I eat melon. It has happened every time I have eaten watermelon and it happened tonight when I ate some crenshaw melon. I have a feeling that the obvious response here is to just not eat it. I think it could be the sugars in it that is causing me to throw up but I really don't know. I don't WANT to stay away from melon, I love melon, but maybe it's best??

My second issue is around exercise. I was doing really great with getting my exercise in over the last couple of months. I haven't had a job so it's been easy to get to the gym whenever. I was in a pretty good routine. Then I got a job. Now what? I can't seem to get up early enough in the morning to get to the gym and by the time I get home I am just EXHAUSTED! Has anyone dealt with this? What is the best solution? Should I quit the gym and walk at my house or how do I make time for the gym when I am so tired?! I feel super crappy for not going to the gym or exercising much over the past 2 weeks and I have been really beating myself up over it. UGH! I am sure the answer is simple and I just need to MAKE the time but why is it so hard?

Okay, my rant is over. Sorry if my problems seem stupid but I don't have many people to talk to about this stuff who would truly understand more than any of you can. Thanks

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
