I had a goal for myself to look the best I have ever looked at 45. I'm not at goal weight yet, but to he honest - this is the healthiest I've ever been in my entire life! I have never actually exercised consistently, never actually read those labels or watched and counted every single thing that I haven eaten- until now! I had no idea that I would be able to keep this up! It was difficult at first, but after I caught on, it's much easier. Curious if everyone else feels the same? Is it easy for you? Hard?

I was very healthy and fit in my younger years.. I played tennis, softball, rodeo'd and was 93 lbs soaking wet. however age and other life changes put me on a road of self destruction. so, this is the new me less 60 lbs and I am healthier than I have been in 20 years or more. I am extremely lucky to have had the chance to reverse the unhealthiness of my past.

I was not unhealthy when I was obese. I had no blood pressure problems or diabetes, my cholesterol was normal, I had no sleep apnea or high blood pressure. My gastro recommended the lapband because I had uncontrollable acid reflux. I had bile backing up in my stomach. I was not a miserable fat person but the weight loss was just a plus. I was never in pain but I have pain now from fibromyalgia and osteo arthritis so no I did not feel any different when I was obese. I have to believe that there are those of us in this world that will never exercise and those that feel the need to do it constantly. Once my pool is open for the summer I will use it daily. Other then having to wear smaller clothes I was not unhealthy as an obese person.

I've certainly been healthier, like while I was young and in the military. But, I am certainly at my healthiest in 25 years. Like Cheryl my biggest issue was reflux and I wasn't on meds for anything though I believe I would have eventually gotten there.

The last few years were rough on my immune system -- an episode of Lyme on top of already-flaring arthritis. I am so glad to be out of the woods with all of that and completely off of medication. I feel so good, and now that I'm losing weight I know I will feel much better than I did even prior to all of that. Before gaining fifty pounds overnight when I took steroids for a severe poison ivy episode at age 29 and then gaining another fifty or so over twenty years of dieting (losing but then gaining back plus a little, round and round I went on that carousel!), I was extremely healthy. Yoga, dance, very healthy eating. There was such a betrayal in there and now that I'm banded I'm feeling a reconnection with my body that feels so good -- like we're friends again. I know I will never have the kind of health I had in my twenties (I'm in my fifties now), but I'm sure a lot better off now than I would be if I hadn't made this decision. And ask me a year from now -- I may surprise us both. Maybe I can get back to that kind of flexibility and vibrant health. Shiny.

I feel like im reading my own life story on some of these posts. I was a very healthy 120-125 lbs as a teenager and through my mid 20' s. I was in the military, played a little soccer and baseball and walked alot. Got married at

This is the healthiest I've been since being a teenager who played tennis and school sports. Even though I weighed about fifteen pounds less in my twenties, I was not as physically fit with an exercise routine. I do 65+ mins of cardio six days a week now. I am more flexible at 54 than I was throughout my thirties, forties, and the first three years of my fifties.

I feel amazing. Had surgery in May of 2013 and I'm 102 lbs lighter. I lift weights so I also feel stronger than I ever have in my life. I can't wait for onederland! Almost there, only 15 more lbs.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
