January fitness challenge

Ok...here we go. A new month....a new year. Time to get off our collective butts and push ourselves a little bit. This isn't about weight loss so much as it's about living/breathing/moving more...feeling better....improving the quality of our life through fitness. Not to mention pushing ourselves to do a little more than we thought we could.

As always....set a goal for yourself. Something that you know will be challenging. State what your goal is....then come back every chance you get to update your progress.

Make your goal something specific and measurable. XXX miles walking/running/cycling/ellipticing/swimming/crossfitting/weightlifting. Or XXX hours working out this month.....XXX times going to the gym this month....whatever you want.

Here's mine....120 miles running and 12,000 meters swimming. Plus I'm doing the pull up challenge every other day, hoping to work my way up to being able to do a pull up sometime soon.

Everybody join in. This is a new year. Exercise and fitness will make you feel better, help you sleep, speed up your metabolism, increase our strength and stamina, lengthen your life....and make you look better naked. Face it, we could all use that. :)

Hi girl......I have made the same committment....I am exercising to the best of my ability right now. So hopefully in Feb. I can add some extra time to my routine at the beginning of each month and get to an hour to each one...only two now but I'm hopeful. Take care.

I would like to revise my goal to do the first 4 weeks of couch to 5k with my fiancé and participate in a daily ab challenge! Day one was a success and I feel great!

I'm near Covington tried to say a date for my Rny.

One of my dear friends lives in Covington. We are only about 45 min away from there. Good luck on getting your date
I lived in Abita Springs for 8 years! Sure do miss it down there, except during a hurricane...lol

Ok so I've been faithfully walking, going back to yoga class, got in a strength class, and started doing my eliptical. After 20 min on the eliptical, my thighs feel like jello, you would think that with the strength training my thighs wouldn't hurt, I do squats with weight, plies, lunges, what gives? anyway, MTD-23 miles, 2 yoga classes, 2 strength sessions and 2 days eliptical 20 min each day, am trying to work up to 30 min, but man, it hurts.

Today: 30 min of my trainer killing my legs + 30 min on the treadmill.

4 hours of 16 Done!

You guys wear me out. Today 60 minutes of PT and I've got spasms in my back! Muscle relaxer do your thing so I can sleep. Night all.

Hello everyone. I am back after having surgery 2 weeks ago. All in all everything went very well. I stopped pain meds after two days and have been able to get in my protein and water on a regular basis. I am on full liquids until the 15th but am getting around well.

I met with the surgeon yesterday and he cleared me to do whatever cardio I felt that I could handle. So today was my first day back on the recumbent bike. I started at 20 minutes and completed 3.5 miles. I can not lift more than 20 pounds for another four weeks so it will have to be cardio for now.

For this month I'll set a goal of 50 miles. It feels good to begin some activity again

Hey fitness freaks. How's everyone's first week of the new year? The dreaded crazy holidays are behind us and we can get in with a renewed regular schedule again...thankfully. I know some of you are getting hammered with a vicious winter. It was 22 here last night....for Houston that's damn cold. But it's not bad weather for running and I'm pleased with my running so far this month.

After just 7 days ove already got 30.2 miles running. My first trail race is coming up in 11 days and I'll have another one the following weekend. I'm looking forward to many happy trail races this year. Love those trails, inspite of the occasional broken toe.

Keep going everyone. Y'all are all doing so great.

My goal this month was to do Insanity at least 20x but with a foot injury that might not happen, I've now missed 2 days because of this plantar/torn arch whatever is going on, but tonight Iam going to lift weights with a friend who is a trainer.

Today: 30 min of my trainer killing my legs + 30 min on the treadmill.

4 hours of 16 Done!

I have to agree with some of you doing so much...I say that b/c I'm not doing a whole lot. I have to see my bone dr to take xrays of my rt hip. I believe from all the symptoms that I might have bone knashing. I might not need an operation but try the shots. Will have to wait and see. Doing a little bike and treadmill right now.

Finally found the January challenge! After a hellacious December, I'm ready to get back and try to improve on my fitness. I'm going to be running my first half marathon next weekend (in Maui!!!), so I have been training for that. Not sure if I'm going to be able to run the whole thing, but going to try my hardest!

I'm also going to finally sign up for a gym membership and start lifting weights. Can't commit to a definite schedule until I get back from my trip, but I'd like to try to go 3 days a week.

Here are my current totals and my goals for January:

Run: 21 (Goal: 60)

Walk: 15 (Goal: 60)

Bike: 5 (Goal: 30)

Total: 41 (Goal: 150)

Early morning, before work Zumba. .. happy and pissed about it all at the same time. But I'm doin it... here I go
