January fitness challenge

Ok...here we go. A new month....a new year. Time to get off our collective butts and push ourselves a little bit. This isn't about weight loss so much as it's about living/breathing/moving more...feeling better....improving the quality of our life through fitness. Not to mention pushing ourselves to do a little more than we thought we could.

As always....set a goal for yourself. Something that you know will be challenging. State what your goal is....then come back every chance you get to update your progress.

Make your goal something specific and measurable. XXX miles walking/running/cycling/ellipticing/swimming/crossfitting/weightlifting. Or XXX hours working out this month.....XXX times going to the gym this month....whatever you want.

Here's mine....120 miles running and 12,000 meters swimming. Plus I'm doing the pull up challenge every other day, hoping to work my way up to being able to do a pull up sometime soon.

Everybody join in. This is a new year. Exercise and fitness will make you feel better, help you sleep, speed up your metabolism, increase our strength and stamina, lengthen your life....and make you look better naked. Face it, we could all use that. :)

2.3 miles in the books today. That puts me at 15.35 for the month. I am going to try and get a 2 mile hike in tomorrow morning before the temps drop and the rain moves in.

Keep up the great work everyone!

3 miles today 18/100☆

88s plank☆

Walked 14 minutes today. The woods were awesome. Lower back and rt hip started hurting so I didnt go longer. Just glad I made my "at least 10 minutes" goal ! School starts again Monday. This will be a whole new ball game.

Ok, Holidays are over, I have been cleared for all activities after hernia(ouch) and Panniculectomy sugery in November. My Challenge to myself...I have started the arm and plank challenge plus Im at the gym doing my class, cardio and weights 5 times a week! Happy to be back, starting to feel lazy and liking it (boo)

Welcome back.

I'm from LA about 50 miles from Baton Rouge looking for a date for my date in late jan. I'd love to connect

Whatcha mean a date for your date? And are you near Lafayette?

I got exercise in today but it wasn't part of what I listed for my January challenge. I shoveled snow for about an hour and a half. I know if I had tried to do this prior to sleeve surgery, I'd probably be having a heart attack. Now hope that winds don't blow the snow back where I shoveled.

It is cold out there also. Hope this revved the metablolism up a little. Working out inside tomorrow. Predicted hiigh for tomorrow is 0.

Knocked out 3 hours of exercise this week. 2 early morning workouts + Zumba and body sculpting classes.

3 hours down, 13 to go.

We're off to a great start already. Nice job everyone.

I've been getting in my swimming and running. Up to 1750 meters swimming and 21.8 miles running.

I WILL meet my running goal this month.

Well... I didn't do Zumba today but I cleaned my teenagers room for 3 hours and had a good cry. Does that count?

Ok my exercise goal for January is to swim 3+ x weekly and get 3-5 miles in each week and work on planking I'm starting at 5 a day since I'm a newbie but want to hit 25 by the end of the month

Ok, enough of this bullshitting myself already!

It stops NOW! I am almost 9 months out and only managed to lose 107 or so pounds. I still have 60 to go!!

And why? Exercise and the LACK thereof. But this is stopping RIGHT now.

So here are my goals for January:

* gym 4 times a week (20 min treadmill, 20 min elliptical/rower, 20 min weights)

* Saturday and Sunday: stationary bike for 30 mins

* work on mindful meditation

See you all on the other side!

1. Walk or bike 55 miles

2.

3. Plank and crunch at least 3 times a week

Theses are Gamergirl's goals and since I haven't met a goal I've set yet, I thought maybe I'd borrow her's. I hope you don't mind GG. It's 1/6/2014. I'm 5 months out today and 7 lbs from my goal weight. Time to make exercise a commitment.

Yesterday, I walked for an hour in 10 degree weather in beautiful Golden Colorado, down by frozen Clear Creek. Truly invigorating!

One of my dear friends lives in Covington. We are only about 45 min away from there. Good luck on getting your date
