January fitness challenge

Ok...here we go. A new month....a new year. Time to get off our collective butts and push ourselves a little bit. This isn't about weight loss so much as it's about living/breathing/moving more...feeling better....improving the quality of our life through fitness. Not to mention pushing ourselves to do a little more than we thought we could.

As always....set a goal for yourself. Something that you know will be challenging. State what your goal is....then come back every chance you get to update your progress.

Make your goal something specific and measurable. XXX miles walking/running/cycling/ellipticing/swimming/crossfitting/weightlifting. Or XXX hours working out this month.....XXX times going to the gym this month....whatever you want.

Here's mine....120 miles running and 12,000 meters swimming. Plus I'm doing the pull up challenge every other day, hoping to work my way up to being able to do a pull up sometime soon.

Everybody join in. This is a new year. Exercise and fitness will make you feel better, help you sleep, speed up your metabolism, increase our strength and stamina, lengthen your life....and make you look better naked. Face it, we could all use that. :)

SICK! BLEK! My head feels like its stuffed with cotton balls. I will be getting some milrs tonight. bbl to post.

Short 5 mile run (it's hard to believe that a 5 mile run is a "short" run nowadays!) and 2 mile walk today. Running the Best Damn Race 10K this weekend. Should be a fun race in my hometown. Disney Princess Half Marathon in 3.5 weeks! My running anniversary is in a few weeks. I can't believe that I've been working out regularly for this long. Biggest success has been preventing injuries by slowly increasing miles, not over striding, and of course wearing good shoes.

Met my running and walking goals for the month, planning on getting on my bike tomorrow and Thursday.

Run: 60 (Goal: 60)

Walk: 66 (Goal: 60)

Bike: 15 (Goal: 30)

Total: 141 (Goal: 150)

Feel better soon!

I'm down with the sickness too.

I danced yesterday and over did it. Still doing some yoga and walking today.

I made a BOMB soup today. Sooooooo good! Root veggies and chicken and spinach.

Taking oregano oil, Reishi mushroom, loads of Vit C and turmeric. Using the sinus rinse is keeping I the head congestion in check. Happy happy happy about that.

I must dance in the morning :-0

4.5 miles to add so I am at 77.5/100. Not giving up on this month yet! Oh and today is my 1 yr surgery anniversary!!!! Friday I see the surgeon hoping for a loss since last months visit.

January goal:

Gym 5 to 6 days/week

5 - 6 miles/day on elliptical for a total of 30-36 miles/week

30 minute workout 2 to 3 times/week OR weight resistance

circuit 2 to 3 times/week

JANUARY TOTALS:

Went to gym TWENTY-SEVEN out of thirty-one days.......

Total miles on elliptical: ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-EIGHT MILES......

Weight Resistance circuit: only SEVEN times this month.......

This FORMER couch potato is a couch potato no more!!!!!!!

Met all my goals for the month. Think I'm going to have the same goals for next month since it's a shorter month.

Run: 60 (Goal: 60)

Walk: 69 (Goal: 60)

Bike: 30 (Goal: 30)

Total: 159 (Goal: 150)

I'm not going to make my goal this month, but I did a lot of good stuff. :D

Hey there everyone!! Work has been keeping me busy busy so I haven't been able to check in till now but I am happy to say I made my goal for the month. I ended the month at 122.25 miles! I did better this month than the last 2 months so that makes me very happy. I have still been in a plateau state. I have been bouncing between 284 to 287 lbs for the last month. Kinda frustrating but I know I need to step up the exercise more. No excuses...just have to do it!

Great job everyone!! C-ya next month!

Hey everyone. I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with this thread very well. I have been keeping up with my fitness...sorta. I blew away my running goal by logging 132 miles...the second most I've ever logged. I didn't come close to meeting my swimming goal but I hope next month will be better.

If there's going to be a february thread someone else is going to have to start it because I just haven't been around consistently enough to do it. Fiddle?

I don't remember what my January goals were once I switched over to weight lifting... but I am now lifting 150# on the leg press and 40# on the bench press. I do know that it appears I have lost one single pound since New Year's :(
