What ya eating tonight?

I had a small sweet potato, with a tablespoon of i cant believe its butter,

And i boiled a boneless skinless chicken breast. With salt and pepper, curry, garlic powder and some soul food seasoning. After it cooked i put a tablespoon of BBQ sauce to the side so the bites of chicken wouldnt be to dry,

All was good, filled up quick even tho i was slow eating

I've been eating salad since six weeks out. I have tolerate it well. I usually have Newman ff raspberry vinegrette.

I have my next appt on the 1st of April and I am hoping to get cleared for salads....but on another note, I LOVE newmans own lite lime dressing...mmmmm....

Did it make you sick? How far out are you?

No, I haven't gotten sick off anything thankfully. I'm 13 weeks (3months). The salads just didnt taste like I expected. I couldn't wait to have one and then when I did it just was sort of ok. The lettuce made my stomach grumble though. But I've done lettuce wraps no issues, so it's weird.

Ooh I love lime, I'll have to look for that!

I guess I need to call my Nut about all this. I'm 3 weeks out wedns and as far as I know I have no restrictions besides the obvious sugar, fried food and high carbs.

Is salad hard to digest or something?

My doc says to restrict salad because it takes up precious room in your pouch that could be filled with good Proteins. Also, the dressings can be problematic.

My nutritionist said not to add salads until stage 5 (8 weeks) because its harder for your pouch to digest raw veggies. Only soft cooked veggies til then.

I have no problem with salad since 3 weeks out from surgery, I have no problem with any foods, actually.....

That is so cool I hope at my 7th week check up he allows me to add veggies and salads to my meals.....I know that Protein is first and foremost at meal time, but I will be excited to add a bite or two of veggies I miss them. I never was a carb junkie as far as breads, pastas, potato etc....Whoo ho for you my dear:-)

I'm not testing the salad yet. I had solid chicken the other night (very well chewed, I might add), and it all got returned to sender :(

Oh no......I am reading a lot of people having trouble with solid foods....Did you have the selastic ring put on with your bypass?

2 Jamaican oxtails with about 3 spoonfuls of rice, Beans, cabbage and sweet plantains. Does anyone notice that even though certain food may not be spicy to the palate, it feels spicy or burning in your esophagus and pouch?

No, just not ready for solids yet I guess. Canned chicken is fine. Soft stuff has been fine.
