Michelle - I feel for ya. I just don't understand why people can't respect others' privacy. That's just so rude. If you find that she has indeed shared it with others, you should confront her. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

Jane - you are lucky that you were numbed first, because I have not been and those sticks hurt....A BUNCH! I would have cried "UNCLE" after about the 4th one, for sure. My first fill the NP got it right off the bat...it was over in 10 seconds. My second fill she had to poke me twice and kinda had to fish around. I dunno....maybe my port moved during those 3 weeks.

Shawna - Sorry, Honey :) What a terrible experience for your 1st fill! I'll pray you do better next time and that it was just a fluke. Did he say your port might be flipped or is that just your guess?

TracyTx - :) You absolutely just jump in here whenever you want!! We're so glad to have you! Just keep us up to date on what's going on with you...we're here for you, too! I"m so jealous that you've lost 24#!!! I've only lost 14 since surgery but I keep plugging away! I'm trying to do this without "dieting" per se....eating the foods I think are reasonable that I also enjoy. I don't eat a lot of junk food, never have, so that's not an issue....but I'm talking about things like Peanut Butter or full fat cottage cheese. I eat carbs but only complex ones and usually under 100/day. I hope you're feeling better tomorrow. I recently had to take a round of liquid antibiotics and that was the most horrible s*** I EVER tasted!!!!!!

TracyTX: JUMP JUMP JUMP! We welcome all new Violets.. we are at the begining of our journies and I for one plan to be HERE (on this thread) through the next 100 lbs and beyond... so settle in with us as we all loose our asses! LOL

Shawna& Jane: Those fills sounded HORRIBLE... YIKES

p.s. I couldn't take the horrendous pics in my sig anymore so I added the newest one. (I will replace it with my actual JUNE 1st pic next week)

I am paying today for my crappy eating yesterday.... oh and mental note:

NO MORE CHEESE!!!!!!! (need I say more) :)

Tigeriffic - good luck. I too am bruised by my fill. It wasn't the fill, but the attempt to pull a pocket of Fluid out of my stomach. It had burst when the doc pulled the needle from the fill out. But all of the fluid had vacated my stomach so the syringe was pulling air - hence the bullseye bruise.

Hope all is well.

Hugs and happy Friday to all my Violet friends!

Happy Friday Violets!!

I am not losing weight. I have lost 15 since surgery, but that was on my 1st fill day the 16th of this month. The fill didn't have much of an affect on my stomach just 1cc. I don't have a scale at my own house but have been using the one at work. It hasn't budged. Still resting at 15 lbs and I leave for vacation exactly one week from today. To say I am discouraged is an understatement. Had a bowl of oatmeal this morning and of course gulping down the Water (not at the same time NO!) I am going to have a protien bar for lunch and a lean cuisine at work for dinner. What is wrong with me. I am journaling my journey, I haven't had more that 1200 calories a day since the surgery. I just don't understand it. It has to get going sometime. Just finished TOM on Wednesday so maybe I am still holding Fluid? ??

Michelle-I hope all goes well with the neighbor gossip. My sister told everyone so I find that most people avoid talking to me about it at all costs. It's kindof funny, but they are probably looking at me saying "she doesn't look skinnier!".

Tracy- take care, those infections can be really bad, I am sending positive vibes your way.

Never give up the fight to better yourself!!!

HELLO VIOLETS!

TracyTX - congratulations on your 24 # loss! WOW. Please share with us what you are doing that is getting those results! Workin' out? No carbs? What's your secret??

TracyinKS - your pics are amazing!!! You must be feeling pretty good right about now! Also, how do I update the spreadsheet? I have a google account and I put in my numbers once, but now I cannot edit. Please help this computer challenged Violet!

MDRAI - I have only told my hubby. Not another living person. I am a very private person, and I just don't feel like I can handle people watching me and making comments on every success or failure with this journey. You may want to go back to this person and stress that it is private. Thank her in advance for keeping it that way.

To those who are filled or have a fill comin' up - I am so jealous! I feel like I could really use a fill now, but my doc wants me to wait 90 days from surgery (that's mid July people!) unless my losin' drops to less than a pound a week. I am losing more than that (2-3 per week now) but it's really getting to be too hard! thanks for letting me vent.

Michelle~ Keep up your attitude! You've got amazing support behind you! We love you and can't wait for you to be "one of the cool kids!"

I remember sitting in preop talking to nurses, doctors, partner, etc. and thinking about my violet sistas...haha, funny, but true. In many ways your among friends that know you better than many loved ones!

We are off to Phoenix this weekend! It will be great to get away! I hope everyone has a safe, fun filled weekend. HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!! Be careful and wear your seatbelts, (can't help it, I am an Italian woman)! I look forward to reading all the "catch ups" on my return.

Terri-Luckily i was able to get a shot and the antibiotics are pills but i can break them in half!! Thanks for making me feel welcomed!!

TracyinKS-you cack me up and thanks for the welcome!

Schexy-I do not really have any secrets of losing what I have lost so far. I guess before I ate so many calories that now that I cut them inot a third of what they were, the weight is just coming off. I have not started exercising yet...I am WAY lazy! When the weight loss slows down, probably sooner than later, I will start walking...till then, I AIN"T:)

DH and I went to a chinese restaurant after I got out of the dr office. 2 things happened there that have never happened before. #1 I threw up in their bathroom...yuck (mental note: no General tso chicken for me)

#2..I left hungry.. LOL

Take care all!!

TracyTX

257/233/160

OOHOOH!! I almost forgot. The last time I ha been to my regular dr office In January, I weighed 269 and today it was 234 on their scales

woooohooooo!! So I definitely think that the 12 pound loss from then to my pre-band weight loss counts. So that is a grand total of 34 pounds. COOL:)

TracyTx- you know to take it easy the next day or two, right? only mushies or fluids after a PB!

Pamela - I'm so jealous! I wish I were doing something fun this weekend! Well, I kinda did already....DH and I went to the spa this evening and I got a mani/pedi, while he got a foot massage (reflexology), facial and a chair massage! We decided we should make this a regular Friday night date once or twice a month -- it was fun! Especially 'cause HE PAID!! :D

TracyKS- I cannot believe how thin your face has gotten!!! You already look like a totally different person! ....and you are so beautiful! Your DBF is one lucky guy. Hope he knows it! What are ya'll doing this weekend?

I was a bad girl tonight. Went to the spa instead of the gym and missed a scheduled workout for the 1st time in 5 weeks. I am very naughty and I feel so guilty!!!! Yuck. Well, I have an appt with the trainer tomorrow morning so I'll tell him to crack the whip extra hard (NOT!). I'll have to make it up sometime.

Where's Laura? She hit the road too?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
