Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Tracy:faint: I can't believe you GAVE away your Garth Brooks tickets. You are truly a good wife and mother. If it had been me I would have left my child and my husband with a babysitter and ran all the way to the concert. I LOOOVVVVEE Garth. I've only had one chance to see him in person but OMG, what a show. You deserve MOM OF THE YEAR.

Hi Kity! How are you?

I just heard on the radio that for all us poor slugs that could not go see Garth we can go to the movie theater here and watch it live. I guess they are high tech and can satellite it in. That is an option but I’ll pass. It is just not the same as being there~

Tracy I am so sorry for you! I think I would have had to sale my tickets!! That would be me standing on the corner I would have made some serious $$.

Well Violets. I was at 246 again this morning. I won't change my ticker unless i'm there tomorrow too. I'm also getting sick. I have alot of "discharge" in my throat and nose. Not really feeling sicky-poo but I'm getting there. So then that means that I'm truly not restricted because when you're sick your band gets tight and I'm not tight at all. I'm gonna call my doctor tomorrow so I can go back in next week.

Has anyone read My Sister's Keeper? It's a really good book. Just finished it last week and I can't get it off my mind...

Tracy - Good luck on your fill today!

Laura - I last 15 seconds on the elliptical. And then I feel like my limbs are made of Jello when I get off. I don't know how people can do it for an hour. Well, I might get there one day!

Pam - I hope you start to feel better now that you're on antibiotics. I think you got me sick. Stop blowing kisses at me...

Oh I no black Friday! That is my favorite shopping day but i must admit that i have never gotten up at 3:30 to go. How did you find out about their specials? Our wally world is open 24/7 so i am not sure how that works here. I need to find out! I cant believe the tickets were so CHEAP! I just paid $300 for my two daughters to go see Hannah Montana.

Sorry I got Haydee and TracyKS sick! Go see your doc early, that is my advice. I gotta go do work, and yet, I keep lurking here!

Angie~ I think Wallyworld closes on Thanksgiving night to prepare for Black Friday. Ours is open 24/7 too, but that is what they do. You couldn't pay me enough to go stand in line so early. Every year on the news they show all the fights etc. Old people kickin ass for something. It is quite funny actually. Maybe I should go just to get a laugh.

Back to work

xoxoxox(germ free kisses of course)

Ack! My internet provider is being really crappy lately... very spotty service... on one sec... off the next...

I wrote a post about my MAJOR NSV today... but it vanished... here it is again...

So my gf & I were in a coffee shop this morning waiting for our lattes & there was this guy there & we started talking about the lids & joking around, etc... and then our coffees come & my gf & I go sit at a table, and she says to me, "That guy was totally flirting with you!" & I'm like "Huh?" because I have not been flirted with in more than 20 years, so she re-runs the scene and -- OMG! -- She's Right! He was flirting with ME!! I was wearing what I think of as my sexy "Laura" outfit -- the low-cut top that make my boobs look BIG (my gf said she thinks of it as the "St. Pauli Girl"'s top -- ha ha!) & my new cool jeans... PLUS I'm not wearing my wedding rings because they fall off now... I was stunned & thrilled all at the same time! What an ego boost! I liked it!!!

I'd faint if a guy ever flirted with me again!! I feel so old for that! But....stranger things have happened....just not to ME! (And I've lived thru some pretty strange things.)

Pammy - I can't believe you got everyone sick!!!!! I'll bet you got your online students sick too. Bad girl! (who cares about the hellions at your school!) Seriously, I hope the pills start working fast...you'll feel a lot better by Thursday so hang in there! Did you tell the doc that your Violets told you not to go to the doctor?? LOL Our bad!!

TracyinKS - Sorry, sweetie. :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
