Taco Soup

Recommended Posts

I have used the bag of Morningstar Soy crumbles for things like burritos, tacos etc. It is very tasty and my picky husband had no idea that it wasn't ground beef. I think the bag was around $3.50.

How many weeks out can we have this

You could purée your serving or it would be good in soft phase.

I also was told no corn but would sub diced tomatoes as well.

I made this tonight to Celebrate my first dinner with pureed foods! Made it for my dad, sister and boyfriend. I used 3 cans of Rotel tomatos with peppers instead of corn, sauteed onions after cooking the 93% lean and used 2 cans black Beans. 2 packets of taco seasoning, 1 of powder ranch. Made brown rice for everyone else and cooked it on the stove (didn't have time to slow cook) I pureed a cup for myself after adding unflavored Protein powder....YUM!!!!! Added non fat cheddar cheese to 1/4 cup and had no dumping or anything. 3.9 grams of fat, 181 calories and 13.7 grams of protein for 1 cup sans Protein Powder.< /p>

I made this too...did black Beans x2 and a can of navy beans, and a can of diced no salt added tomatoes. The kids and I loved it! This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing! This will be a great low cal dinner for fall.

I actually made this last week... I'm still waiting on my date, but my husband mentioned he was a little worried about what dinners would look like after my surgery since I love to cook. Anyway, on the list of my current goals is to start introducing him to some of the new foods we will be having without him knowing so it won't be added stress on him (and since he's a little over 6' and weighs 190 soaking wet... he can also drop 10 lbs by thinking he'd like to drop 10 lbs ;-) anyway, I'm not so lucky!) He loved it!!! It is pretty tasty and I added some extra veggies we needed to use up and it couldn't have been easier!

I think it is so wise of you to begin experimenting with things you both can eat and help him feel reassured that he isn't going to starve, lol, or have to eat weird. You are good wife. Hugs to you,

I have made this in the past, using white or yellow hominy, instead of corn. I wonder if hominy is ok to eat? Sure hope so!

Corn is strictly a filler food. Our bodies cannot digest it so it comes at just as it goes in. I absolutely LOVE taco Soup. I have been making it for years. I add a can of rotel tomatoes for some kick. Yummy yummy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
