Hi all, I'm new to this and am waiting for a surgery date. I'm hoping it will be in October or November. I'm from Canada so it is actually covered by healthcare! I'm 42 and have been yo yoing since I was 14. I'm scared that I will struggle with this but after reading the stories on this site am feeling more encouraged. Is the liquid Pre op diet hard to do? Ask for sharing your stories it makes me feel happier with mndecision to have surgery.

I'm 43...had surgery March 21st 2012. I've had no problems or complications and I'm down 70+ lbs. May sound slow compared to a lot of people on this forum but my doc says that I'm doing excellent and ahead of where they would like for me to be. I started at a whopping 285 lbs...now I'm 215 (maybe less!) and can't wait to get to wonderland!!!! I haven't weighed less than 200 lbs since junior high school. I must say as of yet I have no regrets : )

Congrats and I do not think that is slow, I personally think the slower the better that way our skin can have a chance to catch up!

44 here. I have had a life of dieting and trying every magic cure you can imagine. I used to look down on wls as the easy way out and thought anyone who did it was just not disciplined... ha... man we are the most disciplined people I know. All the rules to follow and things to do... Vitamins to take for the rest of our lives. I have always loved being in my 40's. Really felt like it was my time to shine. And my weight loss is just icing on the cake.

It is harder to lose weight the older we get, in my opionion. But after losing 107 lbs so far this has been the best decision I have ever made. I am glad to meet some other 40's who are going thru the same things I am. I look forward to sharing with you all during this journey.

I have lost 77 pounds total, surgery on 5/23/12. (I lost 23 lbs prior to surgery)

What I am learning to focus on is just TODAY. I cannot do anything about yesterday or before and I cannot control what the future holds, I can only do the best to use my tool today. I strive to focus on only that because that is really all we have. So today I am eating right, sticking to the plan and exercising my new, healthier body. That is it. Every day is a choice and for today I am choosing the right path.

There is absolutely no way to predict the future or know what will come. I am choosing to not obsess over something happening or not happening in the future which will simply take my mind off appreciating what I have today! Living in the moment here!

Excellent thoughts! I didn't have to do a pre op diet so my 70 lbs is all after surgery weight loss. I sometimes think that people who did the pre op diet got like a jump start...not because if their weight loss but because of there body already being tuned to the liquids and Protein...just my thoughts and opinions though...anyways hello to all of us fabulously 40's! Lol

Hi everyone! So glad I found this forum. I am 40 yrs old and had RNY on 7/31/12. I have lost 19 lbs as of my two week post op check. I have found that this is harder then I expected but very rewarding also! I have struggled with weight issues since I was a teen and I feel like I have been given a new lease on life. So even though I have good and bad days I look forward to the journey!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
