Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

  • Popular Post

Okay, so, since I've been frequenting this virtual bariatric world, there appear to be a few issues which seem to ignite much debate and throw the most meekly devised threads into huge ego-centric 'flaming' exercises.

Not only do I, personally, find this predictably boring; it is also deeply unhelpful. We all know that this process changes or should change, how we do and view things to do with food and wider health issues, forever. As such, it takes a bit of getting used to.

The prospect of having to adapt our long-held behaviours is scary and our little food related rituals? They are tough bleedin' Cookies to break. (My apologies for mentioning the 'C' word there)

Consequently, I'm a big believer in the adage that 'skeletons in the cupboard' are no longer 'skeletons', if they are dragged out into the light of day. (Normally kicking and screaming with the neighbours looking on in horror)

So, roll-up, roll-up. Consider this an online bariatric confessional!

There'll be no 'Hail Mary's' or 'Our Fathers' and flagellation will NOT and should not be forthcoming.

I want you to tell us your 'dirty' little bariatric secrets.

What did you do? Why did you do it? (and I will refrain from asking 'with whom?' you did it!) How did it make you feel afterwards? Did you resolve to never do it again - or indeed, did you think that actually, everything in moderation is not so bad after all?

Did you chow down on that hot-sauce laden and cheese encrusted beef taco 2 days post op? (No one can tell I'm fantasizing about anything that does not constitute a 'fluid' much, can you?!!!) Did you sneak into the fridge and eat all your kids chocolate bars, happy in the knowledge that your Protein Pump Inhibitors would prevent you from getting indigestion? Did you swallow 10 vodka martini's to see if your pouch and your legs could take it?

Come on, tell Aunty Revs and lets see if we can put these beasts to bed once and for all :) x

As is only fair, I shall go first.. Tonight, I, 8 days post surgery, ate a fair amount of cheese frosting off the top of a red velvet cupcake (and maybe a couple of mouthfuls of the sponge, too). Why? Because it was there. Did it make any sense? No, because I have never craved sweet stuff. I'm a savoury kind of girl. What did I learn from it? That damn, I'm an emotional eater (which I never thought I was) and that shockingly, that **** went down a little bit too easily. Consequently, I learnt in that way lies grave danger...

See, if I can do it, anyone can. So, step forward and lets hear the 'worst' you've got. Everyone is welcome and all are equal here :) x

Gee bean. Gotta be careful if you are going go be recovering for a month or more from TT right? Without the calories burned from daily running....

Yep...for sure. Believe it or not my cals are way down since surgery. I can barely eat half of what I could eat pre surgery.

Ugh. Donut. Ugh.

I know a little early for holiday talk but......Costco during the holiday/pre holiday has those truffles Rolled in cocoa powder, yep can eat one no problem. Those should last until next year at that rate

I'm 6 days out and and I'm guilty, for the last 2 days I've been picking (literally...pinch size) at food. Goes down ok (chewed very very well)...it fills me. I'm a little worried I could be damaging my pouch and or staples, I feel good though, no nausea, no vomitting. I can't wait till I'm able to sit and enjoy a small dinner with my husband and kids.

So throwing this out there for you veteran Sleevers, have any of you tried the cauliflower/cheese pizza crust? I'm looking forward to when I can actually chew my food. Lol

Holy carbonation! And I was sad about having to give up beer! You made my day.

This is probably a stupid question but not liking it I don't drink beer or champagne, is it carbonated?

Oh..PLEAAAASSSSEE don't do it...so Mich of this surgery is dealing with head hunger...stay on track for long term success. When ur feeling the desire to take a lunch of food get some Protein in..but I know it's easier said then done, since I'm still preop..either way your on your wayyyy..and u can make it! best of luck

Don't eat solids too early because your sleeve is very swollen and numb, and things can get stuck in your staple line. Because the nerves aren't healed you could be tearing yourself up and not even know it. That early on, it really is life/death. Wait at least 6 weeks before doing anything risky. Unless you want to end up back in the hospital.

I will break off a piece of chocolate and eat it with almonds. Also addicted to crunchy stuff. Currently Terra chips, they are veggie but can't be that great for you. I am still losing and my cal intake is around 1100 a day but need to cut back on useless foods. I am eating more meat and raw veggies now.

I quit smoking 5 months ago. The last couple of days I've been seriously DREAMING of cigarettes. It's pissing me off because I don't want to start smoking, but because of fighting those cravings I caved on the eating over the weekend. Note: Due to not being able to stand any liquid protein (I gag after 2 Small sips every single time) I've progressed my diet to soft foods at 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks :/ I have however stuck to that diet pretty well...until after my sons football game...I didn't get anything at the ice cream stand for our victory celebration, but I ate the toppings off of 1 piece of pizza(Was going to take a tiny nibble of the crust, and my sister shoved it off my fork lol) then the next day I ate 1/3 of a mini Oreo container (so 1 serving of cookies), and 3/4 of cheese Pringles mini tube (3/4 of a serving). This was my first time eating something "off plan". Maybe time to go on my Zoloft again.

I sometimes drink with a straw. And on Friday I ate some animal fries from In N Out. They were damn good!!

Sent from my iPhone using VST

I have been adding 1 TBS of mini semi sweet chocolate chips to my healthy greek coconut cream yogurt...Yummy

Frig sakes!!! Mashed potatoes are from the devil...loaded with sour cream and butter and beaten to a nice fluffy consistency and then topped with swiss chalet gravy you make at home yourself...Gawd!!! Yah im on purees/soft foods...but man oh man..mashed potatoes and gravy..1/2 cup plus 4tbsp of gravy...goes down WAYYYY too easily!!!! Never seem to get full on it!! I think im going to ban mashed potatoes..Now i wonder if fries would end up causing the same issue!!!

Ssssssslider....

Have you ever had smashed potatoes with sour cream and dill.....with a pork roast to die for....sorry I brought that up!!!! :(
