Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

  • Popular Post

Okay, so, since I've been frequenting this virtual bariatric world, there appear to be a few issues which seem to ignite much debate and throw the most meekly devised threads into huge ego-centric 'flaming' exercises.

Not only do I, personally, find this predictably boring; it is also deeply unhelpful. We all know that this process changes or should change, how we do and view things to do with food and wider health issues, forever. As such, it takes a bit of getting used to.

The prospect of having to adapt our long-held behaviours is scary and our little food related rituals? They are tough bleedin' Cookies to break. (My apologies for mentioning the 'C' word there)

Consequently, I'm a big believer in the adage that 'skeletons in the cupboard' are no longer 'skeletons', if they are dragged out into the light of day. (Normally kicking and screaming with the neighbours looking on in horror)

So, roll-up, roll-up. Consider this an online bariatric confessional!

There'll be no 'Hail Mary's' or 'Our Fathers' and flagellation will NOT and should not be forthcoming.

I want you to tell us your 'dirty' little bariatric secrets.

What did you do? Why did you do it? (and I will refrain from asking 'with whom?' you did it!) How did it make you feel afterwards? Did you resolve to never do it again - or indeed, did you think that actually, everything in moderation is not so bad after all?

Did you chow down on that hot-sauce laden and cheese encrusted beef taco 2 days post op? (No one can tell I'm fantasizing about anything that does not constitute a 'fluid' much, can you?!!!) Did you sneak into the fridge and eat all your kids chocolate bars, happy in the knowledge that your Protein Pump Inhibitors would prevent you from getting indigestion? Did you swallow 10 vodka martini's to see if your pouch and your legs could take it?

Come on, tell Aunty Revs and lets see if we can put these beasts to bed once and for all :) x

As is only fair, I shall go first.. Tonight, I, 8 days post surgery, ate a fair amount of cheese frosting off the top of a red velvet cupcake (and maybe a couple of mouthfuls of the sponge, too). Why? Because it was there. Did it make any sense? No, because I have never craved sweet stuff. I'm a savoury kind of girl. What did I learn from it? That damn, I'm an emotional eater (which I never thought I was) and that shockingly, that **** went down a little bit too easily. Consequently, I learnt in that way lies grave danger...

See, if I can do it, anyone can. So, step forward and lets hear the 'worst' you've got. Everyone is welcome and all are equal here :) x

Yeah' date=' now she just uses french fries to transport the chocolate shake to her mouth. No straw required.[/quote']

Girl, don't be giving my diet secrets away!!!

Hey it makes it so I have to pause between bites....

Okay. Tonight I ate a girls out cookie...thin mint. So good. But the difference?? I only ate 1.

One sleeve, right?

I just had a coke with some poprocks and....just kidden lol!

I don't cheat often, but when I do, it usually involves a piece of yummy cake with lots of frosting or chips with guacamole :-D

I don't feel one bit guilty because 97% of the time, I'm a good girl.

I must confess... My husband made our toddler homemade pizza on pita bread (sauce and cheese). I don't have issues with anyone eating in front of me, but when I went to clear my sons plate, I put my tongue on a saucy cheesy part, I didn't lick, just placed my tongue on it for about 2 seconds. The cheese felt like plastic and the sauce felt metallic.

This was a day before I became a week post-op.

Okay..my confession for the week. I made my husband chicken bacon tortellini with a tomato ricotta sauce topped with cheese and i took a few bites of it and chewed it up and spat it out..I wanted to taste it.. I love to cook but it sucks that i cant taste everything i cook anymore... I feel so guilty for wasting food by chewing and spitting..never again. At 1 week post op i started indulging in Sorbet. I would eat 1/2 cup a couple times a day because it seemed to hard to get anything else down.

You had me at bacon

Arrgh...sent from my Ayephone matey using magic. Sleeved 8/23/13

I am five weeks out and just ate a fried fish taco.. it went down way too easy.but the little taco did fill me up.

I just ate a mini shortbread biscuit. Or a cookie as you lot like to call them. It was delicious!

I ate a Reese's peanut butter cup...URGH! Not good of me...but it was SOOOOOO good

For real?!

I drink through a straw and have since day 5 after surgery! I also do every once on a whole swig Down a diet coke. I do t like it anymore, though, so it's very rare!

We can never' date=' for the rest of our lives use a straw? That's crazy and sad.[/quote']

Okay, sorry don't believe that crap. I've lost 103 pounds. 3 plus years out. Drink about 150 ozs or so a day and it's ALL THROUGH A STRAW! I have great restriction and no reflux!!! :)

I once ate a whole bag of powdered donuts while reclining on the couch! That happened, um, several times to several bags of donuts. Clearly understand, donuts do NOT stick! You can keep sliding them right on Down! :)

I have had Velveeta Shells and Cheese. Just about a cup and I was stuffed. Logged it on MFP and it wasn't nearly as "bad" as I thought. Even had protein. I find that eating it and then logging it takes the "badness" factor out and I don't need to feel guilty. I'm in control, not the food.

I made the most amazing chicken Parmesan for dinner tonight with spicy marinara and low carb linguini.

It was spectacular!!! I kept eating to the point of discomfort, take a break, and eat some more.

The portion was minuscule compared to once upon a time, but the behavior is what worries me. It really is my best chicken parm ever.

I had to walk around and take deep breaths to keep from sliming and puking.
