Ok...so I'm an addict! I love diet coke' date=' especially McDonalds diet coke...it tastes the best! But I am just about 2 weeks pre-op (surgery date 7/1) so I decided it was time to go off caffeine! And boy do I have a headache!!!! And for headaches I usually take IBU and no IBU before surgery! I just can't win! Lol.

I know this is for the best and I'm going to be giving up a lot more and be in more pain than this but right now I just really want a diet coke! :)

I am determined to do all this by the book so goodbye to diet coke! Thanks for being my friend for all these years! But it's time for me to go on without you and start this new chapter in my life...to a healthier me!

:)[/quote']

I switched to diet iced tea. No coffee. It works for me.

I decided to give my my daily Diet Pepsi habit cold turkey about 2 weeks ago. It has been hard and a couple times I ordered one with my meal not even realizing it. But, generally I feel a whole lot better each day. Surprisingly, even without the caffeine, I feel like I have much more energy. Good luck!

I don't see how drinking a diet soda can hurt weight loss attempts. They have zero calories' date=' zero fat, zero carbs. I asked my NUT if the fizz could stretch the sleeve and she said no. The only reason she said to avoid caffeine was because of stomach irritation and the fizz could cause a bloated feeling. I have neither of these problems.[/quote']

I think it is more for people who turned to it as an addiction. People in this thread say they drank a 6 pack or a 2 liter a day. Pre surgery I had a diet coke probably once every 2 weeks and that's about it so when I hit my 3 month mark and am allowed to have carbonation I will also go back to enjoying one every once in a while (if my stomach puts up with it). I have a smaller stomach yes but I'm not gonna stress about what other people's drs say only my own. However if you were someone with a diet coke or reg coke addiction I would agree not to go back

I, too, was a diet coke addict. Gave it up cold turkey. I still do some caffeine, but in the form of a Protein Cappuccino every morning, and some plain iced tea in the afternoon - no carbonation. I am happy with my decision, and really have no desire to go back now that I am 3 months out from surgery - diet coke doesn't even sound good anymore! I am happy to sip an iced tea if the family goes to McDonalds, or anywhere else. But it has taken me a few months to get to this point. I did crave diet cokes in the beginning - just had to push through and get beyond the tough stage!

Taking a hefty amount of sublingual B12 (1500 mcg) each day completely helped me to walk away cold turkey from all caffeine. Not a single twinge of headache, and tons more energy even without my usual caffeine dose. I recommend it highly! I'm a month out from being a horrible coffee/diet soda drinker, and I can truthfully say I don't miss either of them. Never thought I'd say that!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
