I'll be sure to ask on Wednesday. Your experience with Victory kinda scares me. When is your dads surgery?

I just found this YouTube video that was posted today about Victory Medical. It looks nice but Forest Park looks so much nicer. I had a friend that had breast reconstruction at frisco forest park and it was the nicest hospital I've ever seen.

I had my EGD at Victory and my surgery at FP Dallas and I prefer FP Dallas. Beautiful rooms. The nurses and aids were all fabulous. And the cool thing about FP Dallas is Daugherty's pharmacy. Thy have a lot of the stuff bariatrics patients need and some things that are hard to find. Also you can sign up for them to bring your prescription meds to your room before you leave he hospital. It is a free and awesome service bc trust me, you do not want to have to fill prescriptions on the way home. I don't know if Victory has this service. Great overall experience there. The only hiccup I had there was that a staff member in the OR that sets it up was out sick that day, so they took longer than they should have to set up the OR so I did not go into surgery on time. Dr Nick was probably mad about that lol

My experience wasn't bad. They just had a full house and people should have been released but were kept a second night. Knee and back surgeries

I took my dad to forest park last week and I did not think it even compared to victory. Victory is a small, clean and new hospital. Nurses are awesome. My dad will for sure go to victory. Ask to take a tour.

I didn't think about doing a tour. Do you have to schedule that or can you just show up there?

What does the pharmacy have that bariatric patients need?

Seems like everything! Syntrax nectar( single serv and tubs), good assortment of bariatric Vitamins, Protein powder, Protein pudding, protein Jell-O shots, Protein Bars and Snacks for later on in WLS. A helpful pharmacist that can steer you in the right direction. Oh and PB2 powdered Peanut Butter that you can put in your shakes. They also have medical supplies like bandages and abdominal binders and such. So many things I wish I knew they had before I bought them online and paid shipping. Plus if you go to the support group once a month on Wed. night they will give you 20% off your bariatrics purchases.

Whew that was a lot to write ;)

I was told he performed 22 surgeries the day I had mine. He is incredible! I also had a hernia repair and I was in actual surgery for 18 minutes!!! Love Dr. Nick!

I had mine at Forrest Park Dallas and there were only 2 others on my floor. Everyone was pretty sleepy and we all walked at different times. I would have talked to them but we all seemed grumpy. There was a nutrition class we all went to but some slept sitting up lol. Oh and I was number 1 of the day on my day. I was a revision And my surgery lasted 50 minutes from wheel back to notifying my hubby. My hubby said 50 min later Dr Nick came out to notify another family. Efficient and great success rate with leaks!

I was one of the ones sleeping sitting up. They had recently given me phenegrin for my horrible nauseau and it knocked me out! I felt so bad because I was sitting next to the NUT giving the presentation.

I forgot to mention before my favorite thing about Dr. Nick. During my consultation, I asked him point blank how many patients he has lost, how many had leaks, and how many had other significant complications. He didn't bat an eye and gave me detailed information. I was also impressed that he knew those numbers off the top of his head. He was also straight forward about what WLS does to marriages (my husband was with me). I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me on the surgery. It felt like he believed in the surgery, and his skill, but he had no problem laying out the cons and being forthcoming with bad outcomes he has seen.

Oh! I think remember you! I felt so bad for you bc you looked miserable! You have dark brown hair? Actually most everyone looked so miserable. I did well in the hospital but don't worry I got mine when I went home. It was night and day. I felt great on all the meds they gave in the hospital then the vicodyn dose you get at home is like half :( and I was chowing down on the zofran like crazy. I'm a wimp too I found out lol

I went to the consult today and was shocked how fast I was in and out of there. I'm scheduled for egd next Wednesday at Victory Medical. He did tell me that if I wanted insurance to cover part of the cost if I have a hiatal hernia then surgery would have to be at Victory. Not a big deal seeing that it would save me $8k!!

Funny story...my appt was at 11:45 and my husband met me there. We went for lunch after the appt and who do we see at the restaurant...Dr. Nick. The only table open was right next to him. It was slightly awkward...it wasn't the healthiest of restaurants and it was 15 minutes after talking to him about taking most of my stomach out. We had some chit chat but luckily he left before our food came out. Lol

What was his stats on those subjects? I didn't even think to ask. He does stack them up. At 8:30 am he had already done 8 sleeves. There was at least 5 more in the surgery prep room following me.

That's crazy he does so many a day!! You were at Victory, right? How are you feeling? Everything go ok?

He told us at the seminar he has lost 3 patients. 1 st was a man with extremely high bmi and his heart failed. 2nd was a young girl and her organs started failing and she wouldn't wake up but turned out there was an underlying undiagnosed medical condition and then the 3rd was pulmonary embolism 6 weeks post op.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
