I found a school nurse to give them to me. In your Arm.

Thanks for the suggestion! ;) Spoke with my doc today and she said for me to take 10000mcg of my B12 daily & that would be the same as getting the shots once a month. So I will try that first. I'm only taking 50000mcg right now. Wish me luck!

Hi guys. August 10th was three month mark. So here I go with the stats:

When I decided to have surgery my weight was 289

Surgery day 275 down 14 lbs

end of June weight 253 that made 22 pounds in a few weeks

end of July weight was 244 down another 9 lbs

end of August weight 234 down another 10 lbs

September 10 weight was 229 that means I am down another 5 lbs.

Total down from surgery is 46 lbs and total weight loss is 60 lbs.

I am now 5 lbs from my half way goal. YEAH!

Way to Go!!! Keep up the good work....:-)

That is awesome you have lost 47 lbs . I completely agree I feel the same way some says and at times realize that unless you have gone through or are going through this journey you can not know what we go through with the "new me" I use the Internet for different shake ideas it really does make a difference since I can't seem to tolerate a lot of food but I'm working on it

Thanks I'm going to try that and good luck on your success. I'm so proud of us all

Had my 3 month check up on Friday and I have lost 65lbs since surgery (6/17/13). That makes 104lbs since I started the whole process last June!

Congrats sister! You are doing awesome! When was your surgery date? Mine was June 24, 2013. I'm exactly 3 months out today & had my check up with my surgeon. Here are my stats.

My heaviest weight recoreded at his office was 287.5 lbs. My highest weight ever & was my "ohhhh to THE helllll no" moment was 301lbs!

Two weeks pre-op weight 282Lbs.

Day if surgery weight 273lbs.

Today I weighed in at 232.0lbs.

So, 51lbs. Since day of surgery.

Here's my pics at 287.5 in purple & todays weight 232 in black.

I've lost 38lbs of fat mass & 17lbs. of muscle mass the dietian said. I'm not really sure how they figure that one out?

That means 55lbs not 51lbs. From the "recorded" weight she wrote down. Anyone understand how they figure that out?!

I wish I could see a bigger difference in my head, but really thrilled to see the numbers going down.

Can't wait to see what the next 3 months brings us.

Continue on your success!

Congrats. ..we are almost identical. 6.25.13 surgery date 265 today 226.4

The ups and downs can drive you crazy but it's definitely worth it. I saw some parents at a fball game on Sat that were like you've lost weight and you look really good. What an awesome feeling soooo worth it...

My dr gives me a print out after I weigh and they gave me a handout that explained how all those #s are factored. It is like x*y/z= whatever. I can't find my handout, but maybe ask if they have that so you can see how those numbers are figured out. I can ask for one when I go for my 6 months (Jan) and put it on here if you don't get anything from your dr by then. :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
