Thank you all! I am feeling much much better, except for the jitteriness of the steroids...my bp is better and my stomach is better though so I think if I just get used to the steroids I'll be fine! Thanks so much all of you! I'll keep you updated as I have a couple if follow up appts this week.

Niki -- just reading this thread for the first time (am a noob here). I was so concerned for you that I skipped immediately from the end of page 1 to page 13 and am so relieved that you're feeling better.

Now I'll go back and read pages 2-12 and see what happened.

Seriously, that's so good you're doing better.

EDIT: Wow. I have now binge-read the whole thread. I don't know what to say, Niki, other than you are one courageous, persistent, grown-up woman. I hope and pray your health continues to improve. You are an amazing person. Respect!

Hi Niki! Haven't heard from you for a little while... How are you? How are things going?? Hope you are recovering well!!

Hey! Well today is my one year surgiversary from my initial sleeve surgery last year and I have to admit for the very first time in forever I feel so much better! Even with the Addison's disease and the thyroid disorder and taking more medications than any person has a right to, I actually feel like I may be coming around to myself. I'm down to 119 again, which I'd be happier at 125 or 130 but I'm eating like a horse and feeling great about it! The kink in my small intestine must have really been the answer! I don't have to go back to my bariatric doctor for a whole month! That in itself is a minor miracle!!

Thanks so much for asking!!

That is so great! Are you able to tolerate fat? If so, you might try adding 100 extra calories a day for a while so you can gain some weight back. Peanut Butter or avocado would do it. It will probably help your hair and skin too and help your energy levels.

Yes I am...and I'm eating lots of avocado! Can't get enough of it!!! I'm not even counting calories at this point, just trying to get the calories in! But thanks for the suggestion!

Great news Niki. Addisons is known for causing digestive problems (as it impacts on muscle tissue it affects peristalsis that moves food through your intestinal tract AND as it affects Fluid balance it affects the make up of digestive enzymes), so you probably had a few things going on there.

Did you realise your Addison's puts you in interesting company? JFK, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Helen Reddy and Osama Bin Laden are either confirmed or believed to have had it.

Niki, wow, a whole year? After the kind of year you've had, it's not just one of those "glad to have another year" noooo, you are BLESSED to BE here period. I'm sure you don't feel "blessed" by what has transpired this past year but you are an amazing testament of strength and resiliency. Amazing.

I'm soooooo glad you are feeling better and being able to eat without suffering, what a wonderful gift. Thanks for the update, I'm so glad to hear things are looking up. :)

Right after surgery I had a large hematoma so they did a repair/surgery on that and sent me home after 4 days in the hospital with a drain for another week. Then about 6 weeks later I had an EGD with a balloon dilation for a stricture and thats about when the onset of the reflux/gerd started, although I had been on dexilant since the original surgery. They then switched me to aciphex. Then last Friday, after 3 months of constant complaining about the reflux and changing my meds again to Nexium and taking Tums/Rolaids like candy, they did another EGD and balloon dilation and put me on all liquids to see if my symptoms subsided...which they did not. So after a long conversation with my Dr. about this today we will be doing surgery tomorrow for the revision. Regarding the pain, my pain is in my stomach, like fire, and in my throat, and I am throwing up about 3-4 times a week. Plus every night I wake up or can't sleep from the feeling that it's all coming back up my throat...sorry if this is too much information, but I don't have any pain on my right side...

Wow I had the same thing happen to me but the balloon dilation worked for me after 3 try's my doc was going to convert me thank God the balloon worked I'm almost one year out now doing great so good luck with whatever you have to do

Thanks all for asking about me! Makes me feel loved! I am feeling better but still feel like I am going thru the motions on the medication for the Addison's disease and the thyroid disorder...feel like we really can't get ahold of where I should be yet...considering a new endocrinologist...I have to have my potassium checked twice a week still because it stays critically low. But other than that my stomach feels great and I still eating like a horse just can't gain any weight!

I hope you are doing well, Niki. Please five us an update. Also I think your story could help the OP on this thread: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/288161-severe-gerd-and-severe-esophageal-spasms-18-months-post-op/

I pointed her here and suggested she get in touch with you, but her thread is currently a lot shorter so I hope you can peek in!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
