Massive appetite little restriction

I only have pain in the incision area when I pinch it when sitting. It use to burn but now its less pain. But I haven't been moving around too much because it will flare up. It would hurt when I walked or peed or any kind of internal pressure.

Hahaha. I'm not hiding anything. I've been spilling my Beans on here. I know I don't have a proper sleeve. There is no way a normal sleever could do this. I wish I could say April fools. Something is askew. Up until last week I was on all liquids. I've only been on solids for 2 weeks. And the first couple days was yogurt. And soft foods. Now I'm eating whole chickens and brisket what the heck. No pain and a lot of gain.

Why are you even trying to eat whole chickens and brisket. Sounds like you are already reverting back to your old eating habits, please use your sleeve as the tool it is meant to be.

OK today is the only day I had rice and TV dinners.

. I won't do that anymore. But I will tell my doctor about it. I eat in the morning afternoon evening and in between including shakes I'd say 10-15 times a day. I'm talking no sugar added peach cups. chicken. I was doing Soup but ran out so no more sodium rich Soups. Its mostly always chicken in some form never fried. But I did have a bowl of Cereal on Easter and I did do a cadburry egg. But that's not all the time. So... today was my worst day of being bad with the heavily processed foods. But I have been eating eggs scrambled. Um.. I had chicken and brisket Easter dinner. BBQ. Chicken with a light sauce. Mostly did soups and chicken. For the most part. Still put on pounds from volume. I don't eat unless I'm hungry. I get the urgency to eat. Feeling. I had tea..unsweetened. oh yeah pulled pork unsauced. Um that's all I can remember.

My son-in-law is 6'7" and I consider him a giant.. Which you come pretty close to matching. Is it possible the normal bougie sizes are just ridiculously too small for a person of your size?

Just because you can eat that much doesn't mean you should. You need to measure out your food. You are not supposed to eat til full just satisfied.

I was able to eat steak early on. I had some copped brisket when I started on solid foods, I have had no reaction to food...yet. So I don't find it too odd that you were able to eat steak, I still do from time to time it's just heavy compared to fish or chicken. Hope you find out what's going on.

Most of you have been sleeved correctly I only saw one person that experienced what I went through. I am not going to blame myself for being hungry. I will try to eat better but that will be a challenge since I have little restriction. Thanks to everyone. I can't say I feel better. But I will take mental notes for the future. A wise man once told me don't worry nothings going to be alright. And somehow that made me feel better. Life's a b***h. Things don't always workout the way we want. Adios amigos.

I wish you wouldn't leave.

I'd definitely cut out fruit cups. It's like candy, you're definitely going to be hungry after those. Even if you are super hungry and eat almost NO carbs, like Atkins induction style, you'll still lose and you'll also be satiated longer. Carbs just make you want more carbs. Simple or complex at this point since we can't have the skins which keep our blood sugar levels out longer. You eat a fruit cup and you're gonna crash fast, added sugar or not. Yikes!

My eating plan (I'm 4 weeks out) includes toast and fruit cups at this point and I just know better. If I eat toast I'm gonna want it again and again. Same thing w the fruit cups.

Ok I can't stand it, have to jump on this thread! I chose the VSG because I was hungry all the time too. It was my understanding that hunger was greatly diminished after surgery for most people, so I had my sleeve done on Feb 4. Only 8 weeks out.

Yes, I am still hungry a lot of the time.

I can eat any type of chicken that hasn't been fried (so, boiled, baked, grilled, etc.) I have eaten steak tips in the Lean Cuisine Steak tips portabello entrée…it is super moist, in a wine sauce. Can’t eat much though. And after eating, I don’t feel “full” per se, maybe feel a “pressure” so I stop eating. If I don't slowly, I feel awful from eating too much. And the pressure is worse.

My normal menu for a day has me eating every 2-3 hours. Today I had a scrambled egg, 3 oz tuna, one Boca veggie burger, Atkins bar, and dinner will be some type of meat with a little veggie. This keeps me "not starving". Totally different from pre-surgery where I was “not full”. For me, this is a mindset shift. My goal now is to be “not starving” vs. “full”. Since I am not starving, I have been able to stick with the program. I follow all the drinking timing guidelines and get my Protein and Water requirements every day. Am walking most days for exercise.

This weekend, I had a Reese's peanut-butter egg. It was good. It didn't help me feel full. I will probably not eat another one as it is not getting me closer to my weight loss goal. Eating small portions and being conscious about my diet is my choice each day because I really want to make myself change.

I am looking forward to getting my post-op EGD to see what is left of my stomach. I am trying different PPI's and they sometimes help. So I totally get the “hungry” thing. And I hate to hear you are struggling.

Here is what I have to offer in support:

1. Save your pennies and get an EGD either in the states or Mexico. Buy yourself some piece of mind that your surgery is/isn't right. Knowledge is power and will answer your biggest question. (Last year I had an EGD and it was $2700 in the states. I know one in MX is under $400)

2. Call your surgeon and demand he/she check your left side pain. If it is too far, get the surgery notes and go to your PCP.

3. Try some pro-biotics. Started them last week and I feel a little less hunger after starting them. It might be mental, but worth trying to maybe re-balance the bacteria in the gut that maybe were making me hungry before surgery too.

4. Don't let the scale control you. Take your measurements to see if you are losing inches. This has helped me through 2 stalls.

5. Since you are a tall guy, you probably DO need more to eat. Maybe plan/pack tomorrow's meals after you eat dinner so you can decide what is a logical amount of food. That way you are in control and pro-actively planning vs. reacting when you are hungry? This has helped me.

6. If you are eating processed stuff, try to move away from that where it is the exception rather than the rule.

Keep your chin up. Just asking for help like you are and seeking out a solution, you will find something to help. Good luck!

Alright I'm back just had to eat something haha. My problem is I live in the sticks miles from civilization. Everything I do is dictated by finances. I spent my life savings on this. So I want to succeed. I had all this stuff in the house. From before the op. I can't afford the finest foods. Or high end stuff. I have to save for the tests. Plus I am unemployed due to health issues from before the op. This was to cure my High blood pressure. And sleep apnea. Which was going to kill me. 2 weeks ago it was normal. But now its probably high again. I just wanted to save my life. I didn't think about the cost afterwards. Now I am disappointed because my progress is being erased. Its like buying a new car and than finding out somethings wrong with the engine. I just want to lay here and not get back up. It was my one shot and I missed. Boohoo play a violin.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
