I have a lot of those same thoughts. But I sure would have an easier time doing low carb or any sensible eating plan if I got full quicker and wasn't always starving.
Sure, I still have to differentiate between real and head hunger and make healthy choices, but it will be a lot easier after surgery.
Emlefie, That was great!! Are you at goal? 12 miles is incredible!!

I can definitely relate to your concerns too. I have 4 kids and my husband works 65-70 hours per week. I'd be really screwed if I had to be hospitalized longer. In 2 weeks out tomorrow and, thank the Lord, no problems so far. I was very scared too, but I knew I was doing this to improve my quality (and quantity) of life.

I don't have young children but I have young grandchildren. I'll get my two cents in anyway. I have had absolutely NO complications from my surgery even at my age of 63 when I had the surgery. However, I have tried to follow the guidelines set by the Bariatric Center as closely as possible by taking my vitamins and drinking my water. I can eat anything I want to eat now just not as much as I had eaten before. I don't feel "deprived" because when I get up from the table I don't feel stuffed and ready for a nap now. You won't believe how much easier everything is when you don't carry around an extra 150 lbs. It makes a world of difference. I never realized that until I lost the 150 lbs but I sure realize it now. Yes, there are risks in having the surgery but there are also risks everytime you get into a car or on an airplane. Life is full of risks. You just have to trust God that you are doing the right thing and let him do his part in taking care of you.

i've lost 160 so far. and, unfortunately, no, john holmes has not been reincarnated. no 16" or even otr's 4.5" increase have been accomplished. however, yes, mr wiggly has returned and not only am i so very happy that we can speak face to face again, instead of around a mountain, but yeah, it's a noticable difference. more than that though, is all of the ways that skinny sex is much better. so many more possibilities. much more stamina and staying power. some nights, i feel like a teenager again.

Hah. Yeah, I was reading that, thinking that given how much I have to lose, I may have a film career ahead of me.
Sadly, that likely will not be the case.

don't agree with what others have posted- he always says he never promotes things on tv or in magazines. if theres a picture of him by a product - his picture was put there with out his knowledge/consent
in the same respect if the producer came to him with a subject like the bypass - if he didn't approve, i think he would make an arguement to the producer - and not have that subject on the show - i think he's very ethical - not like the Maury show, i don't watch that
by the way i turned the show on at 4:15 when i saw the post, i did enjoy the show
    this is IMO
call me gullable or naive, but i really believe in him

Funny you guys should mention it, but I can't lose either. Not because I'm not supposed to lose. I probably should lose a few pounds because my BMI is 46! But, I just can't seem to lose ANY weight!! I've drinking these stupid shakes, exercising, etc., but it seems impossible! I guess that's why I'm doing this, right? But, it seems like in the past, I could alter something in my diet and I could drop a few pounds, but the older I get, the harder this is becoming! I'm particularly frustrated today.

I cannot lose anything either, my BMI is a 41. But, I have used this time to research how to eat, what foods to stay away from etc. I also have given up all carbonated beverages, and tried to get all of my water in. I love pop, and thought if I don’t break the habit now I will be in trouble! 3 more months...

Oh I love this Thread! I could go on for days.
    For starters:
*Shop for cute clothes that actually fit right, on the normal side.
*Not mind seeing myself in the mirror.
*Have sex w my husband without feeling like a whale.
    *Feel pretty.
*Or I'll even take feeling human.
*Play with my kids like it ain't no thang. Hehe
*Have more than a couple items that fit, and actually choosing something nice from my closet vs. Reluctantly grabbing " the men's tshirt that doesn't hang to my elbows or have a grease stain.
*Feel human. Wait did I say that already?
*normal. Sized. Bra. One that doesn't have 3" wide straps to hold all the weight and keep me from wearing anything outside of tshirts.
    * get off my anti depressants.
    * feel good.
That's it for now. In no particular order.

It would have stayed if I had been older, but he assumed, correctly, that I would lose weight and start exercising after surgery, thereby extending my life expectancy. I'm glad it went well and thanks for your congrats.
IMO, this is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Bar none.

If you do need a little something- get a can of tuna in water, add just a tbsp of mayo or so- that's be fine. The thing is high protein- no carbs. Most docs do all liquid for maximum weight loss which shrinks the liver and the no carbs which shrinks the liver- so we got double shrinking power. But straight lean protein ie. tuna, chicken breast, is ok. In moderation. Nothing fried!

It is really hard for me to believe that it has now been 6 months since I had my surgery, but here is is, August 23. When I got sleeved on Feb 23, I was so worried that I wouldn't survive the surgery & that even if I did, I would end up failing with it just as I had with ever other diet I'd ever been on. I saw how successful others had been & was inspired by all the information they shared about their experiences, but I just couldn't let myself believe it would work for me. Well, 6 months later, I am still a work in progress, but it is definitely working.
Most of the time I consider myself to be an average loser. Certainly, I am not one of the people who is losing 20-30 lbs a month. But I've been very consistent in my weightloss so far & it has really started to add up. The stalls are frustrating, but I just do my best to keep working through them. I try to eat low carb, high Protein, but I am not super strict about it. I might have tuna on crackers or the occasional beer. For the most part I do low carb, high protein, with a few cheats every now and then. I am militant about going to the gym. I started off walking & have slowly worked myself up to jogging 20 minutes straight. I go the the gym religiously 3-4 times a week where I do at least 30 min of cardio & weights. I also try to work in a zumba class once a week.
I don't know what else to say other than that it really can work if you are willing to work it. It has not always been easy, and there have definitely times when I wish I hadn't had the surgery (usually when I am craving a huge cheeseburger or bread or something & I know I can't eat that with my little stomach). Those moments pass quickly & 98% of the time I am thrilled that I had the procedure. I am happy with my results & hope that at the 1 year mark I will have reached my goal. I am including some pictures because I know how motivating it was for me to see the progress people had made. So as embarrassing as it is to post my heavy pictures, here they are.

Other countries do have good medical care - including Mexico. I have never heard of this surgeon and maybe the take away for all of us is that our odds of a good result are better by going to a surgeon with a proven track record and happy patients - regardless of the country.
