Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

OA thought for the day:

If you are not happy today, then what day are you waiting on?

.............................................................

Dee I just want to note that you always have a kind word for everyone. That's one of your many gifts.

Going to do some meditation today. My FM is barking.

Grandson's birthday is Thursday. He will be one. Can you all believe it's been one whole year? Wow.

Theresa I've never been to Vegas but it must be a zinger to go to.

Everyone have a grand day.

Patty

Marie,

I'll add you to the challenge! OH NO! I am so sorry about your DH's job! That's just horrible! I cannot imagine what you guys must be dealing with. These economic times are so hard on us. I will remember him and you in my prayers. I hope something good will come around for both of you. Don't give up!

Thanks. I think that a quote from The Sound of Music is appropriate right now. "When God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window." This is probably just something we need to go through to move on to something better. We never know what God has in store for us, and sometimes we just have to trust him.

Miss dee, you can put me down for a big fat zero this week. I think I'm retaining Water (I have cankles) so hopefully next week will be better.

Marie, I am so sorry to hear about your hubby's layoff. That must be incredibly stressful for both of you. Hugs . . .

Deb, is your eye okay? Stupid bee.

Deb a kiss on the boo boo. Ice and I've heard baking soda paste (made with a bit of Water and baking soda) over the sting site zaps it.

For all.

PRICELESS GIFTBy this time in all probability we have gained some measure of release from our more devastating handicaps. We enjoy moments in which there is something like real peace of mind. To those of us who have hitherto known only excitement, depression, or anxiety -- in other words, to all of us -- this newfound peace is a priceless gift.

lotza, sorry to hear about dh's situation. am keeping good thoughts for u and yours.

eye is still swollen, altho' not like it was. mornings are the worst. my c-pack mask really pushes the limit on the eye area.

garage sale prep is going like gangbusters... more stuff than u could believe. my friends r so incredibly generous. i am blessed. mom still has no idea that she is the recipient of all this generosity. looks as if we might get about $1000; we haven't even gotten everything ready and have about $200!

the variety of goods is incredible. Y'all would wish u were here to pick up on such treasures!

Where is everyone? I get sad when there's nothing to read about on here. I got my butt wooped at Water aerobics this morning. Hopefully it will make a difference in the scale this week. My hubby's been home though, so I haven't been able to keep on track food-wise, like normal. He leaves again tomorrow, so once again, the salmon and veggie meals can start up.

Just poppin in to wish everyone a great weekend!

Even though my scale refuses to move (I put it away while ago, but I can feel the "no change"), I am happy with the changes my band has given me. I am able to do many things that I once only thought and dreamed about. Running 5k's, Roller Blading, Tennis, Bicycling even skateboarding! Thank You Dr. K!!! Now if I can get these last 50~ish pounds off, who knows what I'll try next!

cheers!

it has been pretty quiet on here. hope it's because we are all out having fun in the sun!

first day of garage sale (aka "cash-4-chemo") is behind us and we are up almost $2000!!! collecting, marking, staging: all a lot of work, but truly a labor of love. friends donated soooo much stuff we are going again today with everything at half price. mom still has no idea that she is the recipient of the proceeds. her reaction to the gift will run the gamut: initially irritated to tears and gratitude. will keep u posted.

Deb,

That is a grrrreat idea. Cash for chemo....I love it. I wish we had thought of something like that. I know how expensive chemo can be, my MIL is getting bills every day.

I am glad you have made so much thus far. Good for you guys!!! I would shop from you in an instant....wish I was there.

Have fun , and sell, sell, sell :tongue2:

They are constantly doing things here to raise money for different people. It's telling that even if they have insurance, the cost is overwhelming.

I'm off on Thursday to have a partial upper GI to see if my band has slipped or the esophagus has enlarged. That would annoy me to no end. I am back on the liquid soft diet. They don't really think either has happened, but they have to rule it out before they do anything else. I hate when they say stuff like that. Now I developing the psychosomatic symptoms. I decided to dump the local surgeon and his office, where they cannot read notes and do stuff just because they have a schedule and not to fit the patient. I am going to the University med center where they have a GERD specialist who also is the head of the bariatric center. It's a fifty mile drive, but at least they are less likely to screw me up. There is no one else in my town. My GERD was nearly gone and now it's endless. I can't wait until Thursday. I'll probably develop seizures by then.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
