Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?

  1. 1. Knowing what you know now about weight loss surgery, would you do it again if you had the chance to make your decision again?

    • Yes, without a doubt! The surgery has been everything I’d hoped for.

    • Yes, probably. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m losing weight and feel that this was my best option.

    • Yes, but I would have chosen a different type of weight loss surgery.

    • No. I’ve had complications and my health has suffered and/or I haven’t been hitting my weight loss goals.

    • I haven’t had the surgery yet, but I’m looking at the results of this poll carefully to help me make my decision!

So I ended up having surgery 3/15 and it was extremely tough in the beginning BUT I am down 38 pounds and am feeling so much better! I don't think anyone should rush into this decision. It took me 6 months to complete Insurance appointments and I am so grateful for that time - because I researched everything I possibly could about the surgery. Oh and since surgery I am no longer on my blood pressure meds or using my cpap.

Good job on preparing and losing the weight. It is amazing how fast our medical issues decrease or cease to exist. The hard part is making sure we change our maladaptive eating habits so we don't regain the excess weight we had. Our minds can really do a number on us. Keep eating healthy and don't let your head hunger get ya. CONGRATS!

I would have my RNY again and again!! Even with my hick ups from the Strictures!! I feel better than I have in many years!! I have maintained my 125#'s for over 3 years. I got below my goal weight in 6 months, I did gain 8#'s back. It made all the difference in the world. Who would think that 8#'s would be great!! YES every time. I won't say that I wished I would have done it years ago because I don't feel like I was ready at that time. It takes a lot of work to get where we have to go. Thanks for this group. It is one of the best supportive groups going.

I would absolutely have my MGB surgery again. I'm over 5 and a half months out and 71 lbs down since surgery.

Only 2 months out, but yeah, just sooner. It's changing my life, day by day.

I've had it done again 6/16/17 and I would do it again if I had too. First surgery was on 04/10/1994

Absolutely! I'm only sorry I waited as long as I did. Of course there's some downsides for me. One of the biggest challenges was making consistent exercise a habit but I did it and I'm at a point where it has made such a positive change, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. It has helped me with the monster called anxiety that I have battled my entire life. The one issue I don't like are the tummy issues but I figure it's the price I paid for getting healthier. I pay much more attention to my health. And I continue with counseling. Plus my body is strong! I'm down 130 pounds and my blood pressure is wonderful and I've significantly lowered my chances for diabetes.

Stay strong everyone. You are all worth it and deserve happiness and love.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
