Yay! Thanx for the feedback.

I'm thinking I will get the smaller canister to see if Sleeve Perry approves.

Amazing green is super good. I bought a sample pack, but I had a allergic reaction to something in it. It was tasty though and I would recommend. The chai was pretty good.

I really like this lit. Thanks for sharing! I have been using some green vibrance from local Vitamin Shoppe and note it is actually down he list a few (has worked really well though). Will plan on trying out the top one next time I am ready to order a green drink powder from Amazon.

Got the Green Tonic Alchemy today from Amazon. Really fast delivery - good. The taste is about the same as Amazing Grass so I added some coconut/pineapple flavoring. Now it went down faster.

Holy cow, this stuff makes you feel good. And more than the energy burst. After 15 minutes, I felt my back inflammation go away. Awesome! This stuff really does have some ant-inflammatory ingredients in it. For this reason alone, it would be worth taking but I also appreciate the energy and quiet alertness that comes from a good green drink.

I also appreciate that it has many different types of fruit in a single scoop. 71 total fruits, vegetables and herbs.

Thanks for the recommendation on this product.

So what are the recommendations for consuming a product like this for maximum efficacy? Once a day? On an empty stomach? Before a workout? After? Not with dairy?

While not an "expert" in the science of green drinks and the bio mechanical impact they have on the human anatomy, I will attempt to provide my anecdotal experiences. There are people much smarter then I on VST that understand the biomechanics of the body. My knowledge comes from what I pick up through reading and I never did take any college classes on biology, chemistry, human anatomy, human biomechanics and so on.

Now that the preamble is out of the way, onto the answers.

Do look through the list of product reviews above provided by Curvy. It is a very good read and I learned a few things after reading through it.

I have tried 4 green drinks so far: tonic alchemy, green vibrance, Amazing grass and Trader Joes green pills. The pills are definitely easier to take in terms of palette over the powder form, but not as efficient. I think it is because the bioavailability is lower when consumed in pill form then in liquid form. Also with pills you have to consume the encasing. Do make sure it is organic and made out of some vegetable based material.

My experience has been that taking a high quality green drink is efficient at one a day. Morning is a good time to take it in order to provide a good start to the day, but you may also consider one dose in the afternoon if you find energy waning at the usual circadian cycle minima at around 1-2 pm. Sometimes I drink one in the afternoon, but be aware that you probably do not need the extra servings of fruits and vegetables nor do you need the calories ( if that is a concern).

If you decide to drink this before or after a workout instead of beginning or middle of the day, I would consider consuming it before the work out rather then after. The reason is that the green drink is going to be loaded with energy that comes from good carbs ( fruit and vegetables). I do not know if there is a significant amount of bioavailability with this form of fruits and vegetables such that the conversion to stored glycogen is gong to be efficient for the workout. It might also be accumulative over time where drinking green drinks will eventually be considered an effective pre workout drink over time, once the desired levels build up in the blood stream, Perhaps someone else has the answer to that. Rather then trying to depend on the successful conversion of green drink to stored glycogen for muscles, I typically just eat a banana with Peanut Butter or 2 nuts.com energy squares 1 hour before a workout. After a workout, I will drink a recovery shake and then eat lunch within 2 hours.

I find a dose of green drink is a good "neutralizer" of various insulin, acidic and other levels in case you consume something high sugar, high fat or otherwise toxic by accident or by choice. Think of it as insurance in case you decide to have some movie popcorn (did this once) or perhaps some fries (not me). These high fat foods will leave your body feeling disgusting. At least it did for me. Drinking an energy drink helped neutralize the high fat or carb foods that were eaten. It has something to do with lowering the acidity and inflammation caused by eating the toxic foods.

Drinking on an empty stomach is fine an probable best considering we are supposed to give ourselves that no-drink window around eating. As I usually drink the green drink first thing in the morning, I consume it on an empty stomach. You may or may not take it with dairy. It is your choice. I usually just mix it up with Water and add a little pineapple / coconut Water Enhancer flavoring to give it just the right flavor (for me). I personally think mixing the green drink with milk or with a Protein shake would create something hard to drink, but that is just me. You are certainly welcome to try it and see how it tastes. Do report back your results for the benefits of others who read this thread.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this forum topic! I have used BarleyGreen in the past and intended to look for it, or a better green food powder. I usually just whisked in Water everyday and downed it in one shot. It's funny with my last child, I was using it and began letting her have some and she would suck it down out of a dropper like it was candy at 7 months old!!!

I certainly identify with the alfalfa hay flavor as Barleygreen was very much like that. I have also mixed it in smoothies and my "usual" was banana, strawberry, spinach and barleygreen powder.

Anyway, I am still pre-op, but I was sincerely hoping I would be able to incorporate some green powder into my sleeve diet because I really believe it will help me to meet my body's vegetable-based nutritional needs.

Thank you all for the discussion. Here's a link to Dr. Day's review of BarleyGreen. If anyone is interested I'd love an opinion about it. http://www.drday.com/barleygreen/

I bought Green Vibrance while home on R&R and made it with Water in my blender ball shaker and .... GLLLEARRRRKKUGH!!!! That taste goes against the Geneva Convention

I don't have access to coconut water, or good juices that aren't pure sugar so, any ideas on how to make it palateable? And also, the texture, so grainy, if I mix it with hot water will it blend better?

I can send you some dasani coconut Water Enhancer. It really helps the flavor of green Essence. No joke. If you have access to Amazon, you can order this for a few dollars also.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
