PinkSoprano,

Glad to hear your surgery is over and your new life is beginning! Sweetie, have you heard about the Gas-X Strips that melt on your tongue? You can get them at Wal-Mart...and they work! Give 'em a try!

Cathy,

I was told a couple of days ago that you can't live in the past by my friend I talk to on the phone all the time. You are living proof that his is wrong! Your relationship with him gives me hope about my possible relationship with my old flame I wrote to! I think this is so exciting for you and I hope you two get together and stay together for the rest of your lives.

Wootsie,

Thank you for your wonderful wishes. Read the book "Lost & Found Lovers' by Nancy Kalish. She has done a study and finds this is the most successful kind of relationship. I'm going with that! I'm not going anywhere. Having discussed it a lot, we both feel that the surgery was part of a series of events in both our lives where we were unconsciously getting ready for the moment we reconnected. That's a good reason to do somethng for yourself!

I wsh you success and happiness and a great day!

Kayford,

I know exactly what you mean about your last date. I think I have you beat though. The last date I had was with a guy who drives in braile! Well, not actually in braile, but he depends on the noise it makes when you are about to run off the road to keep him on the road. It's the guy I talk to all the time, but it scares the crap out of me to ride with him, and he was my last date.

Jodie and chocolate,

You guys should feel fortunate to have the gay mafia (btw, there is no mafia) as friends. Since I've been staying with my daughter, I have seen no one except her and the dogs except at Wal-Mart or someplace like that. I talk on the phone, but my free minutes don't start until 7pm, so I have all day with no one to talk to since my daughter works nights. Ok, self pitty party over. LOL

Okay folks I have an E Harmony out of Harmony sittuation! I need some advice. I have been e mailing and now talking on the phone with this guy I was matched with. This has been going on for almost 3 weeks now. He seems like just the nicest guy! He is funny, smart, his kids are grown and he has a great career. This is what I can assume over the phone so far.He wanted to meet in person right away...I have been avoiding it and I do not know why? I have told him exactly how much I wiegh and he is fine with it, so it is'nt because I am avoiding that same old issue. Interesting, but I made up my mind that when I did meet this guy I was not going to spend an entire day primping getting ready to where I am so made up I do not even look like the real me! So I do not understand why I am not even the slightest bit excited about meeting him? The only other thing I can think of that may be turning me off is.. I am not crazy about his voice! it is kind of high pitched and a little nasaly..not sexy at all. But we have talked so much on the phone I am used to it by now. Bottom line is... I feel no butterfly's..no sparks...should I meet him and see what happens? Help!

Terrilen, I think you should meet him! Maybe just for coffee or something quick. You know'll that you'll have no problem chatting with him, and being attracted to someone in person is very different than over the phone. I've been attracted to many a man over the phone, but in person - nope. If you go, and there is still no spark, maybe you can remain friends as it is apparent that you enjoy talking with each other. It's worth a shot - I think you should go for it!

I too have had the same problems in life but when people ask me I am very open I want them to know about my band. I have always dated men that were unworthy of me I took care of them supported them and taken care of them. I too tried the online line dating and it was great til they saw a picture of me. That seemed to always scare them off but what I have come to relize is that the person you are with should love you for who you are scars, ports and all. Don't be ashamed of your band let them know you made the choice to live agian.

Terrilyn, you should meet the man. Give him a chance. Chances are, he is feeling the same way. I joined eharmony for a while, and was matched up with a lot of men, but only met one of them. We had ended up talking so much on the phone, that we sortof ran out of things to say in person. Needless to say, we didn't go out again. And of course, there were no sparks, but it could have been a better date if we had more left to say to each other.

Kristi

and besides, maybe he has other single friends who you are destined to meet. He is a man, and he can go out with you as friends, if nothing more. Someone to bring along as a date to the Holiday parties you will be invited to maybe?

Would you like another band / dating story? Well here goes:

I met a very fun guy on line. I basically was only looking for a fishing buddy to have fun with because I was tired of grieving after losing my husband. We chatted on line for about 3 months. The weather got warmer and it was time for fishing so I asked him if we could meet on a camping/fishing date. We had a fantastic time and dated about 1-2 a month ( we live 200 miles apart). It came time for my second fill which was scheduled in the city he lives in. I spent the weekend with him but had never told him about my band. I got my fill and the next day we were headed for church (30 minute drive). There were no real liquid Proteins in his house and I had come unprepared. So... I thought a little cottage cheese would be OK for Breakfast. I ate about a 1/4 cup and we were off. I need to interject here that my first fill had basically no restriction to it so I had no idea what restriction felt like! Yea U guessed it, about 15 minutes into the trip, after fighting to work with & hide the slime, at a stop light, I open the door, but the light changes and we head around a corner. I tell him we must find a bathroom NOW. He pulls into a parking lot with some small bushes. I hop out in dress and heels and spew cottage cheese & slime full force! Now I ask you, how do you save this date??? Well........the answer is simple, "sorry, man but you've got to do something about your driving! Got car sick!" Whaaa Haaaa. In all honesty I did tell him the truth after church (guess he was sweatin there for awhile). I was pretty embarrassed tho!

After all was said and done, he seemed genuinely happy for me and my choice for myself. There are nice guys out there, but we all come with baggage.

Chrissytina32,

I agree with Chrispy that you should meet this man. You may find out his voice has nothing to do with who he really is. I mean, he really could be gorgeous and good eye candy. Besides, if you don't like him, you won't wonder what might have happened if you had taken the time to at least meet him. Good luck with this difficult decision.

My 4 yr marriage ended just before I was about to have lapband surgery...turns out my X was calling me a 'big fat slob sitting on the couch eating chocolate' to his work mates and then 2 weeks after my youngest was born I found out he had another significant other, of 4 years as well... needles to say I dumped his A*s had lapband surgery and now I look better than ever he wants me back...No way I am going back there. If he cant accept me when I was fat why should i think he would accept me completely now...i am still the same person! Just a few kilo's lighter...I am hoping now to find someone that truly accepts me for me.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
