Afraid to tell drs about mexico

Recommended Posts

I want to tell my dr. But I'm afraid to mention mx. People try to talk me out of going left and right and I really don't want him doing he same.

Anyone else? Are drs more educated about the validity of mx drs than well meaning friends and family, or no?

Last year, I asked my PCP if weight loss surgery would be beneficial for me. She said, "Yes, but probably a band, not a by-pass." So, that was all the permission I needed to hear! Once it's done, it's done. I will try to get surgery notes, etc. to provide to her. Since I'm not asking her to fix anything, just need her help with the endoscopy and blood tests, the location of my surgery shouldn't be an issue.

And if it is an issue, I will find a different PCP!

I totally am on the same page! I want to make appointments for post op care so I have them lined up for when I get home, but I'm afraid of them asking questions and then trying to convince me otherwise. Not that they will ... My deposit is paid and my insurance already denied me... I'm not going thru another 6 mos of stress! So I'm just going to worry about it when I get home.

Before I would even make my deposit I wanted my PCP's feedback and blessing. He gave me his blessing and is very excited for me. He insisted I get a flu shot (really glad I did too considering the flu outbreak) and updated my tetanus. He is glad to know how to best be my doc considering my intentions. If fact he told me I'm his 1st medical tourist patient.

i didn't necessarily want my PCP's blessing but she knew i had been banded in the states and knew i was having problems. she did give me a horrified look but my mind was made up.... i was going to Mexico. i went to see her to get my stitches removed and she asked a lot of questions so i think they just don't understand WHY we go to another country.

i even told my lapband surgeon i was going. i gave him first option to revise me to the sleeve, matching the price in mexico but he said he couldn't do it for that price. he did agree to see me if i needed any follow-up care though.

I was nervous telling my PCP. But she was thrilled for me! She will do all my follow up care.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
