How long did you take off work?

Recommended Posts

I took off 8 days counting the weekend. I was getting cabin fever! I am a aircraft inspector and didn't really have any problems.

If I would of stayed home I probably would have messed something up , trying to work at home when I had the Damn 15lb lifting limit

I took off 4 days of work. I had no pain at all after surgery however I did get tired during the day. If possible try taking a 15 minute nap at lunch. You should be fine with taking a week off but everyone is different. Good Luck!!!!

I took three weeks off and not because of pain. I did not come home until week 2. By the end of week 2 I was still exhausted, much like a nasty flu. I took the extra week to build up my energy and get used to walking, Protein Shakes and liquids before adding the stress of work into it. My energy did not truly return until month 2; my body needed that amount of time.

I'm jealous! I'm 4 days post op and going through pain. I know this will be worth it. I was gonna go back to work on Tuesday but I'm thinking I will be taking the whole week off.

I will be returning to my desk job two weeks to the day of my surgery. I am using vacation days. I return in a week- and hope I am ready, mentally and physically. From what I've read each of us heals differently and in our own time. I keep telling myself it is major surgery. Good luck and happy healing to all! ????

I am taking 4 weeks off. I have to use short term disability and bought up on it so I can receive 90% of my pay check.. Heck the other 10% is my commute since I drive an hour round trip daily. Monday is surgery day for me!!!

I took off six business days (Monday - Monday). Today is Tuesday and I am back at work. The pain is mostly gone...more pressure from the hernia repair than anything and I was sort of going nuts just sitting at home, but I have a desk job. My hardest task is walking to the conference room for a meeting.

I took two weeks off but I could have gone back to work (I'm a network engineer) three days after I was discharged from the hospital.

Me too! I'm CCIE#34420. Surgery is 2/14, I'm planning on returning on 2/25.

I took off a month but actually returned to work after three days. I had surgery on Friday and was back working on Monday but even so you cannot go into it thinking you'll be back to normal. You will no longer have a normal and the first week after surgery you're not even going to want to wear pants with a waist.

Eating is tedious and requires focus and you should make sure that if you do return to work quickly you'll still allow yourself the "you" time you need

I'm planning on taking 3 weeks. Depending on how the 2 wk post op goes, I could go back earlier. I'm working up until the day before surgery. I have a full-time desk job and a part time desk job that I'm a bit concerned about. Not sure if I will have the energy to do both, but we will see.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
