Hi guys, I had my surgery 12-14 I am almost 8 months out and am down from 260 to 173. I'm happy with having a 87 pound loss! My goal weight is 140 just 33 to go hope I can make it!! I just started working out I have been doing Jillian micheals 30 day shred and I already see a. Huge difference In my stamina 5 push-ups now 15 :D

My arm skin is tightening and I bought my firs pair of pants and tank top from forever 21 I feel like a women! Lol

My BMI went from 43 to 28 no longer morbidly obese or obese ..overweight will turn into healthy soon! The only thing I don't like is my show size went from 10 to 9 1/2 and I hope it goes down even more because no one sells 9 1/2 size shoes :( anyone else losing their shoe size?

Keep it up my Dec sleeve sisters as brothers!

Yeah... my shoes are all too big... I mourn the loss of my shoe collection AND the fact that I have to replace them all with a smaller size...

I just wanted to say I'm stuck again scale won't move everyone I know says I lost enough weight but I want to take off another 10 pounds for my own comfort. Anyway all my weight loss is post op I never was given a pre op diet.. I ate full food up until the day before surgery. I was 258 before surgery and am now 165 I want to be 155 I am 5'6 and have never been this small in all my life but I still feel fat I know some people cant understand it but I do at times I see the changes in pictures but when I look down and sometimes when I walk past the mirror I see the old me I wonder if my mind will ever catch up to what I really am.

My surgery was 12/10/12. As of this morning I am down 87 lbs! :D Not as fast as some, but not as slow as others, and hopeful that I will hit Onederland sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. I have been stuck for the past month and FINALLY last week broke the stall! I too have lost 1/2 - 1 whole shoe size, depending on the shoes. My hubby isn't thrilled of course, but it is what it is. I also got rid of ALL my old clothes - 15 garbage bags! Gave them to friends who will in turn share what they don't want with a local women's shelter, so I'm feeling even better about all of the wasted money on clothes over the years. I've walked two 5Ks this summer and have two more on my calendar. I've done a little bit of hiking, bought a bicycle, and have been doing Water aerobics religiously for three nights/week. The highlight of my summer will be on Labor Day, when I go up to the Mackinac Bridge and do the annual 5 mile walk across the bridge. I am super excited for that! We drove across the bridge last Labor Day, and knowing already when our surgeries were scheduled, I made a vow to walk the bridge this year. Can't wait!!! :D

Thought I'd share something my nutritionist recommended this morning. Kay's Natural Foods online. They have snack products in individual packets. Good alternative Protein Snacks. I just ordered some, and I'll let you know how they taste. according to the website, some Walgreens carry them in the diabetic section.

So, i have been guilty of falling back into old habits and my weight loss has been on hold for 3 months! I was looking at everyone's progress and i thought OMG what the heck am i doing????? Well, yesterday i went back to basics and just in that one day i lost 3 lbs :)!!!! This is a tool and even after going astray for 3 MONTHS it still works. I know there are hers out there that are or have been in this predicament but, you do not have to be. It is never too late to get back. If i lose 9 lbs. a month i will be at goal by December (1 year surgiversary). THAT is soooooo do-able :)

i'm starting to feel like i am done losing and i still have 74lbs to go to goal. i started at 332, dos i was 300, today i am 238.

the last few months i have been traveling a lot for work and its starting to take a toll on my weight loss. its hard to stay on track. especially when i sit in the hotel on the weekends. we are in a bad area and have a rental car or 4 people to share. i go to the gym but i am just not motivated to do anything and i talk myself out of a good workout.

my weight loss is SLOW. the middle of may i was 244, today i am 238, almost 3 months later. i have let carbs slip back in a bit. i just don't feel like that is the problem with how little we can eat. but maybe it is. i just feel like i am done losing and it freaks me out. i do get all my Water in and my Protein. just feeling really blah and i miss my family.

i dont know what to do to reset? go back to basics? do a 2 week liquid diet again? any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

I travel a lot for work too, I take Protein Bars with me. That helps. I stop at gas stations or walgreens to grab bottles of water so I don't get dehydrated. I must admit though, it is tough being on the road. Good luck to you.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
