I have been on a three week stall as well, could the folks who are getting out of it post how many calories and Protein they are getting a day? I just upped mine a bit , program has me on 300 cal. And 30 grams of protein on average. Walk everyday. Not supposed to have shakes or Snacks with my 1/4 cup meals 3x a day. Think it should be more.

I'm on 600-700 a day and I walk 30 minutes at least a day I don't do shakes I try to get all my protein in by my meals because I hate the shakes my doctor says that fine ant encourages me to get at least 45-50 a day if I'm not doing the shakes I get it on average 52-60 protein a day. I was sleeved on Dec 6th and am down 35 lbs and feeling great I eat oatmeal/cream of wheat, chicken/fish and spinach and Greek yogurt When I need extra calories I eat a ounce of 2% cheese it also increases my protein. I am on 3 meals and a snack a day i eat every 4 hours and I always get in at least 71.1 ounces of Water a day.

Thank you for taking the time to post! This is just the info I need to help me feel right about upping my calories and protein . I find I have some trouble getting a Protein Drink down so I am adding cheese as well. Still haven't added a smack but I may. I think my stall is going but I just got the TOM so that will prob. Slow me for a week. I also have been upping the liquids.< /p>

Congrats on your progress!

Had an interesting day. I tried a higher calorie day to see what it would do to or for me. I'm normally around 700/day with 20g or so carbs. Today I ate a scrambled egg and a half with some cheese and crumbled bacon, a 2.5 oz cheeseburger grilled at home with 95% lean beef, no bun. Half a dozen baby carrots lightly dipped in ranch. A Protein Shake in 12oz of 1% milk and then dinner was a medium sized slice of brick oven pizza with cheese, sauce, grilled chicken, and roasted red peppers.

The pizza was an experiment and I was frankly surprised I even got close to being able to eat a whole slice without problems considering the burger and carrots became painful at the end of lunch. My wife has been depressing on me about never being able to eat normal food again so I showed her (and myself) I could, even 7 weeks out.

I have been in a 4 day stall where I've actually gained a pound so today was an attempt to shake things up and show my body I'm not starving. I'll be back to normal low carb low calorie tomorrow but today was over 1000. I think it's a slippery slope now that I know I can fit that much and feel fine so I'm resolving that even if this works to kick start weight loss I won't do it more than once every two weeks.

Just had my post op appointment, I'm at 5 weeks. New goals ~ lose 65 pounds in 100 days, I'm at 35 so far. 90 to 100 grams of Protein, bump up the exercise until I'm out of breath and at least 45 minutes. See him again in 2 weeks, hopefully can lose some more because I have had some stalling.

I will need to have 2 Protein Shakes a day to hit that goal and he said that was fine.

I really like the lean shakes from GNC, they taste great!

Wish me luck, I want to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I have 130 pounds to goal.

Wow! Who set your goal? You or your doctor? I've only lost ALMOST 20 lbs (18 lbs technically) in six weeks and I AM exercising at least an hour/day. I can't imagine having a deadline like that (65 in a 100).

I saw my doc post op at 2 weeks. Today I saw the NUT for the first time post surgery. I told her what I was reading on this forum re: calories, carbs, protein, etc. She said that at this point, they are most concerned with my protein and to not worry about calories/carbs and the ilk. So weird, because I know this is NOT what other people are being told. I will be going to a support group led by a different NUT in a few weeks. I guess I will have to feel out the other opinions then.

Hi,

We are twins! I'm 6 weeks out and have only lost 20 lbs. I am also being told the same thing about concentrating on protein and Water. It's frustrating..... I'm thinking about dropping back my calories to 600. I'm averaging 800 now.

But even on VST everybody is all over the map. Some say 1000 calories, some say 800, some say 60 carbs, some say 20.....

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
