Recommended Posts

Hi Dec Family

I have broken my stall also I love how almost all of us stalled and broke our stall around the same time. Keep pushing do not give up and remember do not compare your weight loss to others use it as inspiration to keep pushing!!

I had 2 days where I upped my calories significantly to 1400 - the next day I was down a pound, the day after another pound was gone. Today I am back down to 500 - 600 calories. I am interested to see what the week holds for me.

How on earth did you get up that high without hitting up Mickey D's?

Oh my gosh, I am seeing people hitting 1000, 1200, 1400 calories and I don't know how you do it. I am killing myself to try and get in 600, and getting in enough Water, oh man...I don't see how anyone can handle it. I get so full so fast that I am sick, I couldn't eat or drink anymore if my life depended on it! I am 6 weeks out and haven't lost a pound since week 4, so I am really trying to get my fluids and calories up if that is even the issue.

I'm 6 weeks as well, 32lbs lost in 3.5 weeks and haven't moved since. Maybe the increase calorie will work because today was a BAD day! I didn't count anything but I ate bad all day, even had fried bologna at Breakfast and some chocolate covered peanuts with a few sips of Dr Pepper at the movies tonight. No problems as far as physically handling it, I've discovered that I have the dreaded 'sleeve of steel' but the guilt got me. Oh well, tomorrows another day. Maybe the scale will move Monday!

I noticed that we all go through a stall sooner or later I also noticed that people with bigger BMI's seem to loose more weight faster then people with lower BMI's although I have seen some folks that break that rule its rare My thing is this I know its frustrating to have gone through all of this see how little we eat only to watch it either move slow or not at all but DON'T GIVE UP I know its hard and it feels like it wont happy BUT IF YOU EAT THE WAY YOU SHOULD! Low carb High Protein and get ALL your Water in you should be fine , We cant complain about its not moving if were not following the doctors orders I have broken the rules 3 times since surgery but realized I was only hurting myself by breaking the rules and that I would have done this all for nothing if I don't stay strong we are human and its okay to fall off track here and there but remember we really put ourselves through a lot to reach a goal so I figure why mess it up! Lets do right by ourselves and stick with it until goal is reached then once it is lets do ourselves a favor and learn to maintain it so we will never be here again! Good luck everyone I KNOW ITS HARD! #YesWeCan!

I'm going through the same thing. Really, the only way I am able to get to 800 calories a day is to rely on my Protein Shakes. They are the easiest thing for me to get down. I can only take a few bites of almost all other semi solid food. Without the shakes I don't think I could get anywhere near 800 calories-- I just can't eat enough of anything else for it to add up.

I'm also having a REALLY hard time with water ....always makes me slightly nauseous.....

Sleeved 12/17...still not 20 lbs down. As for what we eat, I agree that without at least one Isopure bottle a day (40 g of protein), I would never come close to getting teh Protein I need to eat. Solid forms of protein are really hard to eat...Soft veggies are easier, but they don't help with the protein goal.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
