Wanting to leave my SO?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm post op a little over 2 weeks. Before surgery. I had lived with my SO for 5 years. we had good and bad times. For the past 2 weeks while recovering, i stayed with my parents. And surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. The issue now is, what should I do? My relationship has been so painful for me and he tends to not treat me well. I know I should leave. I should have left years ago. My issue is: what do I say?

I'm 23,I haven't lived at home since I was 19. I find that though I just came back to my SOs house, I am constantly thinking about my family. The environment was better for me there than it is here.

Any advice? I promised myself that I would change my life around when I got my sleeve. And my feelings for my SO have changed so much.

Thanks.

I am a firm believer in listening to your intuition and inner voice. You know what you should do. Don't drag it out. What better time to think of yourself in a new way? Start fresh with the goal of taking care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally. Let it go.

I think you're right. It's hard to say good bye, and change scares me. But I want to finally care about myself and put myself first for once! It's just hard. I'm just scared to make the wrong decision.

This is an important time in your life health-wise, and you need to focus on yourself. You know what you need to do; the next step is doing it! It's nerve-wracking and scary, but you'll be better off not being around someone who can't treat you well.

You're a strong person. You can do this. I wish you the best of luck :]

If you make the decision to leave, make sure your personal items are safe before you give a clue. Important papers, jewelry, keepsakes, bank account, etc are all things to lock down. You may think you know how things will go, but once the other person realizes it is really over, you have no idea how they will react. From experience, I can tell you that it does not always play out theway you have imagined it in your head.

All the best.

I too agree.

I will say when I was 23 I was living with a girlfriend and was ready to propose to her even though I had this weird sense of doubt. Turns out I packed up all my stuff and moved to the other side of the country (job offer). I have been here for two years and I have never been happier. Turns out my life with her in it was miserable and I just had blinders on.

Follow your heart. We're young and have too much life ahead of us to waste time now!

I also agree that you already know the answer to this question. If it doesn't feel right, and he treats you poorly. why stay in the relationship? You have just made a major life change in deciding to have this surgery, because you want a better, healthier you. Don't you think this new you deserves to have someone who truly loves you and treats you the way you deserve to be treated? I do!

As hard as it is, you don't want to be 33, 43 etc regretting that you didn't break away while you can. Trust me, someone doesn't treat you well now, it does NOT get better. You are young - live a little!!!!

My issue is: what do I say?

You might try the truth. Echoing others, you know the answer. You just need the courage to do what you know to be the right move.

Keep it simple but tell the truth. Your not happy with where your relationship/life is and you need to change it so you can be happy.

Or you could move all your stuff out and email him the link to this thread!

Go back to your parents house for another few weeks and think things over. Take everything valuable with you and that way if you decide to stay there and your partner turns nasty you don't have to go back to his. You have had the strength to go through major surgery so you will have the strength to make the right decision about this as well. Just tell him you are going back to your folks house for a while as you are lonely when he is at work and need the company just now, then take it from there.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you every happiness in your new life journey. Let us know how you get on and that you are ok. Sending love hugs and kisses. Xxxx

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
