Is it just me or is that stuff expensive? I mean $22.95 for 17 scoops and it says 4 scoops a day. So every four days another $22.95?

I know it seems pricey, but, you only add one scoop to 8 oz of liquid. I add mine to 16oz of crystal light. That's 20g of Protein. To sf pudding or a 4oz container of greek yougurt, I add 1/2 a scoop. I don't know how far out you are, but, you should be getting protein from other foods. Also, I don't spend anywhere near as much money on groceries as I used to so what I save I can afford the protein powders, flavored and unflavored. Just don't add the powder to hot liquids over 130 degrees or it will clump up.

I am still pre op hoping for early December. So are you saying you won't actually need 4 scoops per day as recommended on the unjury site?

Maybe if that is all you are using for your Protein sources you might use that much a day...and yes, if so that WOULD get expensive! I've been looking at it as well, and 20 some bucks for 15 scoops seems pricey to me too

It does sound pricy, but if you break it down to price per gram of Protein it's really on par with other high quality whey Protein isolate products. Also, 4scoops a day would only be while you are in the liquid stage. 4 scoops = 80+ grams of protein.

Also, even if it only lasted 4 days, that's only about 5.75/day. When was the last time you Te for 5.75/meal much less a day?

Yeah but don't you still have to eat other food and feed your family? My point is it will be 22.95 every 4 days that in not currently spending. My question isn't whether or not it's worth it-of course it is! It's our health!!! My question is how pricy is 22.95 every 4 days?

Bottom line, you have to do what's best for you, your health, family, and budget. As your diet advances you'll be getting more Protein from normal food sources. How many scoops you'll need per day depends on your postop plan, how fast you're advancing, and the the amount of protein in the powder/drink you are using.

Yup, you do have to feed your family, but if you are using 4 scoops a day then you are sourcing all your Protein from these shakes. If you are past the liquids stage you will only be using 1-2 scoops/day. My situation is likely different than yours, as I rarely eat at home. A meal typically costs me anywhere from 7-12 dollars. And that's assuming I'm not splurging. So for me, $40/week is a bargain, I have spent more than that on 1 meal. Also keep in mind what you are getting. 100% undamaged whey Protein isolate. The best protein currently available for your body.

I would only use the unflavored for special things, like putting in puddings and such for an extra way to get Protein in and stick to the more inexpensive Protein for everyday use. Jillian Michaels brand is less than $10.00 at Walmart ( for 15 scoops, I think) and it tastes fine to me. But I'm only 1 day out so I'm certainly no expert. LOL

I HATED powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and anything more than a Tbs. at a time had me gagging from the smell. For a while I used the Isopure but it started to have an aftertaste. After a lot of (failed) samples, I found the Syntrax Medical Unflavored.

I LOVE it. I can put one or two scoops in ANYTHING and not taste it and it dissolves without clumps.

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
