I understand days not wanting to eat. Three weeks out on soft foods. Hard to even get down an egg. Watching others.....they eat so fast, wash down their food, etc. We are on a different path. Not sure how we will fit in with meals with others?? Sleeve feels best right now with pudding and fluids but I know we have to eat also. Best wishes to all!!!

Sleeved Oct 25, home next day due to good behavior. :) Feeling better than ever in my life. Extreme energy. only bad point was day three morning I woke up (not much sleep) with my arms so popping full feeling--pain went away with liquid tylenol. fine by afternoon. It was the gasses collected in my arms rather than most people shoulder because I slept in a reclyner. Slept on belly sunday night (day 4) lost 26 inches and 22 pounds by first week appointment, I am released to mushies and swimming! One size pants down in 2.5 weeks ( 8 pounds ihn 10 day pre op and the rest in one week), Feeling great. Not getting more than 40 Protein in, and 30 Water but working on it,. I find propel water or mio to go down better.

I was sleeved 10/26 and had very little pain and no complications. My gas was manageable. All week one, I had no problems with my fluids. I was beginning to think the doc just put me under and put some holes in me and sent me home. I had none of the problems everyone else has talked about as far as getting their liquids. Today I started pureed and finally realized I indeed had an operation. I pureed up Soup and was able to do about 2-3 oz plus a 1 oz Protein shot and I felt I would bust. It was so weird. Now I wonder if my liquids will be hard because I still feel full and that was 40 min ago.

I was sleeved on 10/16 I am down 17 pounds 23 since 10/9 preop diet. Doc put me on soft food for two weeks. I've found egg whites and even chicken to be an enemy of mine!! Makes me extremely nausea. Also I'm on Prilosec OTC 2x a day. Overall I feel great!

Don't be embarrassed. I told the tech I was going to ralph and he told me to do what I had to and handed me another bottle of ick.

My tech said don't worry and he stopped the test

I had my sleeve done Oct 15th, still struggling getting enough Fluid and Protein. I am having a hard time with the taste of the Protein Shakes, I can't stand them and I'm currently on the soft mechanical foods right now, I just don't have an urge to eat. Any helpful suggestions for fluid intake and protein intake?

I was sleeved on 10/15 and I've been doing fine. Today I feel rotten. My stomach has a terrible "burning" feeling, I feel like poo and my right side is hurting.

I haven't trued anything new and I haven't eaten/drank any more or less than usual.

I'm hoping its just the after affects of my first week back to work, but I can't help but worry. :(

What say y'all?

Even after resting for a few hours, my stomach is burning and feels "full". I feel like I would feel better if I could throw up, but I certainly didn't overheat!

I have a headache, too. I'm hurting under my right shoulder blade and down my right side. Blah. :(

Hello Everyone!!

I am now 3 days post op, had my sleeve on Oct. 30th in Tijuana, MX with Dr. Garcia. I am doing pretty well!!! I was worried after reading all the stories of gas pains, nausea, and pain but happily I am reporting back a happy person!!

First day of surgery I did suffer from gas in my back and upper chest area. Thankfully my wonderful Husband was there to pat me like a baby and rub my back. Which I believe helped tremendously!!! I did take some gasx strips that day but honestly I don't think they really helped. All in all day of surgery was the worst!! After I got up and walked around and got some more pain meds in the evening, I finally relaxed and fell asleep. Thank god!! I did experience some nausea and dry heaving on day one but they quickly gave me more meds for that and it helped keep it at bay. All in all the first day not so great, but the staff was wonderful. My husband didn't think the 2nd shift staff was the most attentive but 3rd and 1st shift were wonderful!

TMI..... They even let my husband take a picture of my stomach!!!! Crazy!!! But kind of awesome at the same time! I was surprised at how large it looked!!! My husband said the doctor said it was average size.

First day after surgery, feeling pretty good. Of course sore, but good. No noticeable gas pains... Thank god! Did not have anymore nausea. Walk, walk, walk! Did my leak test, was pretty worried about having to drink all that liquid but in the end wasn't that big of a deal and passed that test. Did another type of leak test with some kind of blue liquid dye stuff... They said if my drain catcher had any blue in it that wasn't good. But I passed that too! So they started to give me ice chips, which were heavenly. The Gatorade and apple juice. The apple juice gave me heartburn so I stuck with gatorade and Water. Day two down, so far so good.

Forgot to mention earlier that I caught a NASTY cold on the way to MX!!! I mean nasty!! I can't believe it hit me hard like that. So the first night down here I hacked and clued and blew my nose forever! I was worried they wouldn't do surgery but by the next day it seemed to subside a little. I told them about it but they didn't seem concerned.

Second day after surgery, was released. They took the drain out, which by the way, felt really weird!!! Not painful but weird. Then the staples came out, no problems there either. Didn't even feel it. Was released to go back to the hotel. Was sent with a goodie bag of medicines, Gatorade, water, and detailed instructions. I was surprised how swollen I was after they removed my IV's. They said it was normal and in a day or two would be back to normal. Which it is! :). My job now is to not get dehydrated, so sip, sip, sip. Walking around in the halls, went to dinner with hubby and was ok watching him eat. sleeping that night wasn't so great! Felt like I was burning up!!! Not sure if it's from the cold I have or my body just freaking out??? But was able to take another pain pill and it allowed me to rest and finally a sleep.< /p>

Third day after surgery, got up showered, washed my incisions, which look great and don't hurt. I have three incisions and one drain hole. Went down to Breakfast with hubby and tried some broth while hubby ate a yummy buffet. He kept telling me I didn't have to come down but I told him I have to be able to control myself. And I did, it really wasn't a big deal. Made sure to walk the halls quite a bit. After breakfast was a little tired so it was time for another pain pill, so I took a nap and woke up feeling pretty great. The day was kind of long , didn't really go anywhere due to our driver's car being in the shop. Oh well... Now just watching some tv and writing this up.

So tomorrow we head home back to WI!!!! Yay!!!! I miss my kids!!!! And just being in my own home. But that also com with the challenges of getting back into the old routine. But I am staying strong and I will succeed !!!!! As many of you have!

I look forward to sharing all of our experiences, good and bad!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
