Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Recommended Posts

I had my first check in with the doctor today. Everything is progressing fine. I feel good and am especially happy to progress to full liquids. I had some clam chowder (just the Soup - no lumps) for dinner. Looking forward to starting yogurt and Protein Shakes tomorrow. Down 10 so far.

Had my surgery on October15th. Came home late afternoon on the 16th. I've had a lot of nausea. Today I had a headache and a lot of heartburn. Trying to walk every couple of hours. My saving grace has been SF Popsicles. I can get them done without a problem. Looking forward to getting better each and every day.

Hi. I was sleeved last night at 8:00pm! Mind you' date=' I was scheduled for 2:30! We got to the hospital at 11:30, was brought into preop and hooked up to an iv and laid there until 7:30. CRAZY!! I didn't have anything to eat or drink since Sunday night. I went thru fits of laughter and fits of tears. As the time passed, nurses came and told me that everyone that was scheduled after me has been cancelled. My surgeon finally came out and said that the person scheduled before me took so much longer because of how large the hiatal hernia was. He said he was up to doing my surgery and had a room but wasn't sure if a team could be gathered and I asked if I could be scheduled for the next day and he said he was booked until Friday. I only had banked a few weeks of sick time at work and this would delay it by a week!

Thankfully (although how I was feeling around midnight I wasn't so thankful), my surgery happened. I've not hand gas pains yet (I'm told it comes day 3?) but it's EXTREMELY painful getting out of bed. The largest incision is where all the pain is. I've had bad headaches and I'm sure the pain meds are the cause. But, I'm walking the hallways. Tolerating Water and they just added apple juice. Tastes so good!!!

So, I'm hanging in there and looking forward to going home tomorrow. They just don't let you rest!!! Someone else coming in and out every 45 minutes.

A tray, hope to be glad to be in the other side of my surgery date. I know it'll get better, I just have to get through this part.

I totally know what you mean about not being left alone :-). You have to get out of the hospital so you can rest! :-)

For the incision pain, my surgeon gave me a tip, he said to roll onto my side then get up. It uses your side muscles rather than your abs and feels much better, at least it worked for me.

Good luck!

My surgery is on the 25th as well. My surgeon is having me dring 4 Protein shakes a day to get my Protein in. Each shake has to be a minimum of 20gms of protein and less than 200 calories. Seems to work well since I've lost 21 lbs on the pre op liquid diet.

I am so glad to be able to reply to this sleeve I was sleeved on 10/17. So I am a day out from my sleeve and I am feeling no pain only discomfort going home tomorrow I'm so ready to start losing weight. I'm not hungry at all not sure if that's the sleeve working or I know I can't eat anything so I'm not thinking about it. Well I'm going to get some rest.

I was sleeved on Monday the 15th. I'm trying hard not to freak out, but I'M STARVING.

What gives?!?! Out if all if the things untried to anticipate, I never expected to be so hungry. How can that be?!

I think a lot of it is what they call head hunger. But your stomach is empty so hunger is possible. I have not eatin since 9 this morning and my stomach is hungry. How long since you have had food. Of course you will be hungry. The tool starts working when your able to eat Protein and it switches your brain switch that you will be fool for several hours. You will get there just try to relax and think of other things and keep drinking!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
