I'm 61 and had lap band since 2010. Lost 40. Gained it back. I am frightened of surgery but more frightened of being obese and not enjoying my life. I have Type II HBP and no energy at all. I have to do this. Are you all happy you did?? I love food ! Lol. But it's killing me. Any happy stories welcome

I'm 2 1/2 years out and would do it again in a heartbeat! I can exercise at the gym without hurting myself, my diabetes is GONE, and my blood pressure is lower. No more energy spent trying to diet, which never worked long term! As far as the food goes, I don't miss the junk-- I find myself just not wanting it. Still love to cook interesting foods and can eat what I want.

Please don't worry.

I was sleeved on Feb 28
No complications
I'm 69
My weight loss is very slow compared to a lot of others I read about
I was very discouraged and finally found some literature which addresses Bariatic surgery in the "elderly (above age 60) patient"
The abstract concludes that weight loss is slower in this group
At no time pre-op, was I told this. I've done a lot of self-teaching!!

There is a forum for the 60 age group but it is not too active.
I was banded 12/06 and am 62. I am way healthier than my formerly fat forties.
I hope to keep my band... many cant.
I also find the night the most challenging... I'm thinking most people do...
Greek yogurt or yogurt popsicles are good. I try not to bring other stuff into the house.....

I'm now 66-- had gastric sleeve surgery 2 1/2 years ago. I also am much healthier than before and hope to live many more vital years. Also find it easier to not bring temptations into the house. Night is challenging, especially when you can't get to sleep and it winds up being many hours since you had dinner or your last snack. If I eat past 7:30pm, I get reflux. To avoid getting too hungry, I have my Protein Shake right before heading for bed. It's very satisfying, but not solid, so I don't have any problems with reflux.

Great to hear of your continuing success!

I'm 66, 18 months out, 120 down. 40 to go. Should have done it sooner. It's been a breeze.

Sounds great, Just got back from the nutritionist and I am 5 months out and down 60 lbs, seems slow but I am pleased.

That doesn't seem too slow. Hang in there! It's a journey not a rave.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
