I was sleeved on the 21st. I started at 255 and am down to 232. I'm still on soft foods. I'm going through some sort of wierd let down. I'm wondering if it's because life was very exciting and scary up until this, and now it's normal? I can't figure it out. I should be dancing on the ceiling right?

Congrats to all August sleevers .... I'm an August sleever myself albeit August 2011. Just wanted to say good luck & though it will be hard at times just stay focused on the prize & don't let yourself get too down during the tough times. By this time next year most of you will likely be new people.

Had my sleeve on August 28th. I lost 10 pounds from my five day liquid diet. As of today I have lost a total of 27 pounds. I am very happy so far. My diet is soft foods, but have no problems with tender chicken, cheese, Beans, Greek yogurt, shrimp, eggs. Glad I got "sleeved"! Good luck everyone.

I too can't seem to get milk down.. But I can handle cheese. I've read that milk is hard on your stomach so I bought some skim milk but I'm still afraid to try it. Hoping it gets better with time

I can handle milk so far but I also don't push it just in case.

Hey everyone!

I was sleeved 8/13 and I'm down 23lbs from the morning of surgery. I've spent most of this time in a stall, seems to come off in big chunks and then sit for weeks on the same number. I did measure myself for the first time since aug 4th today and noticed I've lost 18 inches overall, 10 from my waist!!! Pretty happy about that :) I've got one more week of soft foods but I'm tolerating most things well now, my NUT says I can start experimenting as I see fit so long as I take it easy on dry meats (steak and chicken breast) and avoid things like rice/bread until at least month 6.

So far so good..here is a pic of me from last month, a few days before surgery, compared to today at the gym!

Hello all!

Sleeved on August 1st

Started @ 315lbs

Yesterday weighed in @ 258lbs !

That's 57 lbs down in 6 & 1/2 weeks

Hard to get all the Protein in, I'm sick of shakes, and that whey smell , just tired of it!

Doing as much tuna and chicken that I can, but I'm afraid I'm gonna get burned out on that also. I work shift work so days and nights get mixed up, but only regret is I should have done it sooner!

I can't wait to wear smaller clothes than I graduated from highschool wearing! Already lost about 10 inches from waist! Now my "skinny clothes are starting to fit loose! I love to got shopping but restraining self til at target weight of ..... 165lbs of twisted steel with sex appeal!!!!!

I was sleeved August 17th. I was 356 at my highest weight, 334 on the day of surgery and I am 311 today. I've been in a stall for 2 weeks now, and I feel like the scale is taunting me! I just want to start losing again! I'm on Protein and cooked veggies. My great-aunt turned 100 last week and we celebrated today. I ate a plain chicken wing and 2 pieces of shrimp cocktail and I was done!

I definitely want to see that scale go down!! I know I have to not check it everyday, that is my goal for next week!

Yes I am done checking the scale cuz it one depresses me! Lol so I'm going to weigh in at the dr check ups and every month now smh that's the only way I will feel good about this! Lol last time I weighed I was 205 down from 240 so hopefully I've been going down even more. Been experimenting with new Protein Shake recipes so hopefully I get more in this way cuz I haven't been gettin 60g at all

Sleeved Aug 6th and have lost 20lbs. I'm a slower loser but I started with a lower BMI of 34-35. I'm happy with my progress so far and started weight training this week to make sure I don't have loose skin!

I guess I'm a slow loser. Surgery was 8/17. I lost 11 lbs in two weeks, then stalled a week, then lost 3 lbs in week 4, for a grand total of 14 lbs since surgery. Started at 267 in January, and at 226 now. I'm happy enough. One can always hope for fewer skin issues with a slower loss rate, right?

I've had no complications, have never thrown up, can eat anything but the dreaded-carbs we are to avoid. I do get tired mid-day and struggle to stay awake most of the afternoon... but I had chronic fatigue issues pre-op. The chewable Vitamins were the only thing that brought me close to getting sick, too sweet. So I went back to the liquid multi, and will ask on Wednesday about just taking pills going forward.

Hoping you are all feeling great!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
